Re: Thats a really great accent - Response
but I bet your wife was happy
You could then make money here doing answer phone messages, I'd love that my family would wonder what was going on

I could do that in my regular voice and they'd wonder what was going on! I could record a message saying that you'd taken to running with a carnival and would be back once fair season was over...

Re: Thats a really great accent - Response
SO I often wondered (cause I hear it a dozen times a day) has anyone come up with a good response to '......thats a really great accent' remarks from cashiers, homeless people, others overhearing your conversation, etc etc?
Ok not totally naive I know when they substitute the word 'cute' for 'great' my luck is in and it could be the start of a wonderful relationship ! but honestly what do you reply?
Saying 'hey yours is really great too' or just 'thanks' seems a bit lame. Someone must have a good response out there ?
Also because of the accent 'Charlie' tends to be interpreted (Especially at StarBucks) as 'Jolly' which gets worse when the server shouts JOLLY after the drink is made.......Christmas this isnt so bad.....rest of the year it is (Stop laughing). Ive tried learning an accent and it isnt working .....I sound like a retarded Elvis/John Wayne mix. Perhaps a baseball hat stating 'Its freakin Charlie not Jolly' might do it.
LOL

If you go to the lounge there is a voice thread *sticked at the top and ABY is in it. He sounds better than Barry White, I don't know what he was talking about all I knew was he could talk the phone book and it would be sexy

Re: Thats a really great accent - Response
erm thanks, they are making a compliment.
I just hope it continues and I don't loose it which is my worse fear and have that awful pseudo British-American accent when no one in their right mind here or in the UK would say "I love your accent".
I say all my words the British/Scottish way tomato etc but I am annoyed as I now can't seem to say vehicle in the British way but say it like veeickllll - argh

The only upside is that you tend to snap out of it very quickly and return to "natural inflections" when surrounded by them "what does know 'ow to talk right, like".
Worse things happen at sea, as they say.

Hate to burst your bubble dear, but that "mid-Atlantic" accent is pretty damn unavoidable after a while.

Out of the actors of his time, he is deffo my favourite.
Seemed to be laughing at himself.
BTW, not sure how you'd characterise her American accent, (maybe a generic West coast??) but its very, very sexy.
Soft, gentle and sort of creamy, in a way.
