Re: Select a Candidate for 2008
I heard a segment on Friday on NPR about Guiliani, a former staunch advocate of gun control while mayor of NYC, he was giving a speech to the NRA about 2nd amendment rights.
These guys have no shame......... or principles that can't be bought for the right price.

Kucinich and Richardson at 49
Clinton and Obama at 46
Mike Gravel at 45
erm...I know Dennis Kucinich and Bill Richardson don't stand a chance at getting the Democratic nomination.

biofuels -- we should definitely expand research, but production? As Kathy pointed out, they currently aren't petroleum saving. They will drive up the cost of livestock feed and other products, so they aren't a panacea, but they are a starting point.
more like require everyone to drive a 30 mpg+ vehicle.... ahem....
immigration -- enforce the existing laws and send employers to jail. Hmmm, that wasn't an option. This is a major hot button for me, but not because I blame the immigrants, I blame those who've exploited them.

This does not bode well for me in 2008.

Won't divulge my results as the quiz is obviously fatally flawed
But it was interesting that my response to the following question was contrary to the stance of several candidates - should anyone who is against this policy be allowed to live, let alone stand for election...

Sugar based biofuel is likely - so lets pour our gas money into the carribbean instead of the middle east and finally let them get rich off something other than tourism.
So being against federally funded biofuel ISN'T a bad thing - it doesn't mean you're against biofuel entirely - just the cackhanded US version of it.

I got Joe Biden, beating a joint second of Hillary!, Obama and John Edwards.
Although I don't particularly like Biden as a person (or his public persona, never actually met him)
This will be the first US election where I can vote, having got citizenship 2 months ago. Oh, and I'm registerd as Unaffiliated.

Well my take was that anything that begins to take the US down that path can only be a good thing, despite the many potential short-term inefficiencies and issues.

Kucinich at my top got 64 points; Dodd 62; Gravel 59. I'll bet the difference is "how strongly" you feel about each issue; I tend to feel fairly strongly and indicated that.
