Any suggestions for where I can get M&S quality at M&S prices?

Other than M&S - Mrs HTS is headed back to the UK tomorrow, so that is taken care of in the short term...
It depends where you buy the ware, you wear.

I tend to wear "Gold Toe" and they are very good quality.

Of course all of your socks have holes in - how else do you get them on your feet?

Next delivers now for a fiver. Also try Lands End and LLBean. Their
stuff lasts forever and is well made I find.

I'm actually quite surprised someone hasn't suggested he knit his own socks, given the many similar responses to food related questions

Thank you!

Gold Toe is a good brand, although it was better years ago.... I'm finding that clothes that are imported from China are not made the best....

M&S delivers here now? I admit I don't care for the fashions at those companies as they are a tad non-exciting. But I do buy my kids outdoor gear from LL Bean as its extremely warm and durable.

Years ago I bought a robe (I still have and wear) from M&S, I loved it! I shopped there quite a bit and really liked the quality of their clothes. However on our trip back this past summer, my older daughter and I went shopping in M&S and a lot of the stuff wasn't as nice as I remember. I found a nice robe (I thought nice at the time) which was reasonably priced 20 pounds and mentioned to my daughter that it was really nice and maybe replace my old one. She bought it for my birthday and I just can't wear it. The material is similar to those cheap plush blankets that you can buy. I wear it and when I take it off I'm practically electrocuted. I went back to wearing my old one, long may it last another 10 years!

I found that with Next also which 20 years ago was the go to place for a fashionable but high quality garment or shoe. I had a splurge there when I was over a few months ago and while it's still higher quality than most places the fabric used is of a lower standard. Some of my sons t-shirts are not holding up in the wash at all.

They charge £15 per order (not item) for delivery to the US.

My Gold Toe and Docker brand socks are being eaten away in months. I used to walk to work in the UK and didn't get anywhere near the same amount of wear. Might be my current shoes I suppose.

Places like Marshalls and TJ Max sell discounted smart wool socks. They're really comfy and last forever if you can prevent your family from pinching them.

Let's face it, most of us went bare-foot in the old country, we didn't know from socks -- or shoes. So who are we to complain about American socks??

May I refer you to the thread I've just started.....

Check out the US website for the British mail order retailer 'Boden'. All top quality stuff.

At the time of writing they're currently having a 60% discount Winter Sale

They also sell mens underwear!
