And of course people are also complaining about a low income housing project being planned, they claim it's too close to neighborhoods and schools, thing is it's low income family housing, as in people with kids as well, not homeless housing, although it will be next to the homeless shelter.

I was joking about the parks. On a more serious note, they have started to build small sheds for the homeless here and giving them addresses. having no address makes it hard to get a job or support. The other big issue was the shutting down of the mental hospitals. You probably heard of the recent death of the lady in Portland. It was in UK and US papers.

I resolved my pet peeve about 20 min gas refills. I now take two 5 gallon cans with me everytime I get gas. This means I can go for an extra week or so without having to visit the gas station. Yesterday it took me 25 minutes to get gas at 3 in the afternoon :(

How do I stop the possum coming through the cat door and eating the cat food? I was thinking if I use high calorie food, he will get too fat so he unable to squeeze through the door.

They guy was going round putting the pump in each car, then he went round again to take payment on each pump. Also the truck in front of me kept tripping the pump to turn off, probably due to the low fuel tank. They had 1 person for 6 pumps.

This is the problem when you don't have self-serve gas pumps.

Not even back in the UK, on one of the busiest stretches of road in Northern Ireland, in one of the busiest petrol stations in town (basically the first one you hit coming out of Belfast on that side of the road bar one really poky one just off the motorway that's always packed), at rush hour when cars were queued three deep (before pay-at-the-pump when everyone went inside to pay for their petrol and also buy fags and sweets) has it ever taken me 20 minutes to fill my car

My wife has made an observation that the women work faster than the men. Unfortunately I got the guy who was on medicare. I hate to think how long it would take if they didn't have pay at the pump.

Possibly, but on balance I'd still prefer to just do it myself.

Yup.

What's the deal with 24 hour service stations then, do you not have them, or does some poor bastard have to sit there all night on the off chance that someone stops by for a fill-up?

There will be one or 2 around. I am not sure which ones they are. Yes, someone has to sit there all night, waiting for customers and hopefully not get robbed. The same ones are the ones that open on holidays.
They tend to be the more expensive places.
I just try to fill up during the day and get gas before a holiday.
My other option is to drive across the river and fill up in WA

No, it is a PITA. They recently changed legislation for the rural areas, because people were banging on the owners door to open up late at night.
