You'll love NH...the staties have black or brown SUV's and park in the ditch and blast out of the ditch to get people...and they ping loads of people for speeding because it's such a live free and die state that has to make up for no sales/income tax that it seems to be made up in property taxes and road infractions.

The ones around here that I see, they're not tilted to face the ramp that you're not meant to go through, especially when you wing through a toll which is a bit disconcerting.

The lack of man-size tissues. I'm brewing up a horrible snotty cold and the facial tissues over here just aren't up to it.

Really?! I hate those big tissues in UK. They are big, but aren't any stronger than the Kleenex I get in massive packages at Costco. I find the 'man size' is just a waste since it's icky to reuse them ...

On the subject of tolls, a freeway near me has a toll/HOV lane. When there is no toll, it says "OPEN TO ALL" instead of a simple "no toll" or "no fee", which is confusing and therefore fewer people use it and the remaining lanes get a bit bunged up.

Agreed - I prefer to use tissues and chuck 'em. The big ones are no more use than a regular tissue, just bigger

I do have a related peeve though - little Miss P dabs her nose couple of times, or sniffs into a tissue once, then throws it away. She can get through half a dozen tissues within fifteen minutes and not have had a good honk into any of them! :frown:

I agree. When I lived in the U.K. the man size tissues were the only tissues I bought. Fortunately I can buy them here in Toronto.

I recall seeing those signs. Had I known "open to all" meant no toll, I would have used those lanes and gotten out of the massive traffic jam.

I even looked it up on the DOT website and it didn't explain it clearly - I had to watch a video on Youtube to see what the phrase really meant.

If you block one nostril at a time you can just snot it straight out the window.

They're the same around DC, and I took advantage of a business trip to drive into the segregated HOV carriageway marked "open to all" to see what, if anything, happened. I figured I could plead ignorance if I triggered a charge. .... Nothing happened. :)

Sign on toll road in California. "No charge weekends and holidays" That should be pretty simple to understand

Even for people who struggle to understand roundabouts?

Why should I really bother to understand them? They'll never happen here. No 18 wheeler with a great big long trailer in tow would be able to navigate them and if it tried to just piss off every driver for the next half mile behind it.

Many things from Britain are worth emulating... but not roundabouts in So Cal.
