My kid's class would already be home by now. I guess being able to close schools on an individual basis is beyond most county's ability.

Also if they cared that much about kids safety, they would fit seat belts on school buses

Out here it has to be basically white-out blizzard conditions or more than 8-10" of projected accumulation (and even then they will still have school and just let out early, like on the day of the 24" blizzard we had 5 years ago) before they even think about closing the schools.

You guys need to learn how to handle winter out there

It's a shame there isn't something they can put down on the roads to help melt ice, isn't it?

Whatever it is they use here they can't put down once it's raining. It gets washed away. Put it down too soon and it isn't effective. Personally with all the hills around here deciding not to risk running the buses was a good call. But I'm sure all the experts on school bus safety would be the first complaining if there was an accident.

That's a rumour put about by people with entirely too much time on their hands.

Most likely caused by their gratuitous use of busses when they should be walking. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-.../i-pXPVNhn.gif
