Re: Pet Peeves?

People who don't understand what a "Yield" sign means and don't slow down when entering a motorway, despite you not being able to pull over as you're being over taken. The dirty sanchez's.

Hearing "I need to pee, daddy" 2 seconds after you past the exit for the service stop...and asking if anyone needed a stop every few minutes during the previous last 20 miles, where you go past at least 4 decent stops. Now you're 45 miles from the next service stop, or the alternative is to pull over and use a petrol station that looks like it was a set for a bad horror movie.

People who have the squits and not the manners to just shit in the woods rather than fill a bowl....and not flush it.

How it doesn't matter where ever you go to a service stop, the one on the other side of the motorway always has the better food joints.

How expensive petrol is on the motorway.

How people have no comprehension of black ice.

Finding a stamp that isn't a "forever" stamp, that is now 2c short of being useful, forcing you to go to the post office.

Politicians and charitable organisations being exempt from the Do Not call list.

Having travelled through "Moose Alley" loads of times and never seen a single sodding moose.

How the power always fluctuates just enough so that you have to reset the clocks on the cooker, microwave, digital photo frame and everything else around the place...just for the stupid thing to happen again.

How the stupid comcast remote can control our DVD player, but not be able to fast forward chapters.

How it doesn't matter how many times you check to see you've got everything before a road trip, you inevitably still forget something behind...such as the kids sodding toothbrush.

Screen doors which snap back to quickly and smack you about a bit.

Petrol stations charging you for air...and for there never to be enough time to actually get around to doing all 4 tyres, leaving you empty by that last tyre.

Stupid doors that can't close properly.

Oh...I had sooo many more earlier...but this will have to do, for now, again.

I understand the peeve about charging for air, that would seriously piss me off but not having the time to do all four? Maybe if you did them more often you'd get enough for all four? Just sayin........ ;)

I think you should just stop going away for a while, it's not good for your health.

One tyre was looking pretty low, got that one done, checked pressure and a couple psi in two more tyres, then the machine stops...meh...that's all I can say.

oh, a couple more...

Chrome rims....they look shit.

Over sized chrome rims, barely look sensible on a massive motor like an Escalade, but they look damn stupid on something mid sized, 20" rims on a Jeep Cherokee, that's a bag of crap.

Pickup trucks that have a spoiler on them and chrome rims and bonus points for stupidity if they've been lowered...isn't that just a car?

Oh, and spinners...which dickheads ever thought that they'd look cool in a car with spinners on?

Observations after reading the last several pages ...

My goodness, I've never read so much whining in my life as I've read on this thread!

Something that makes me smile - I love how Bob continues to add a daily list of random grievances in between the whining banter.

And in the spirit of the thread ... my pet peeve includes comments like this - of which there are many in this thread:
"If you were born in the US, lived here and went to school here, you're American. The prefix doesn't count for anything... except perhaps, stupidity."

I've tried to explain this topic several times to people who are not American, as have others. I guess if people can't listen with an open mind there's really no point as you've already made up your mind that everyone is just plain stupid. However, when living in a foreign country, I would encourage you to try to understand the locals' point of view once in a while. ;)

What?? Are you suggested that folk act reasonable in a "Pet Peeve" thread, when they have the opportunity to act like conceited, xenophobic prïcks?? ;)

Yeah it's bullshit. They charge you for petrol and then charge you for air too? Ridiculous.
I bought a 40 buck rechargeable compressor/torch from Lowe's about 7 years ago, it still works brilliantly and I never have to go near a filling station air machine.. just check the tires at home and put air in them in the relative comfort of my own garage. Better still the torch is like a mega bright spotlight with a range of 300 yards.

If you and your parents were both born and raised here, and you've never visited the country that you're alluding to be from, then drop all the bullshit. Is there any great shame in being proud of the place you were born and raised?

It's little wonder the country is so divided on race down here in the South, when a good many of the people that are complaining about it seem to want to seperate themselves from everyone else.

Whining about whinng, now there's a new one.

Do I have to spell it out?
I wasn't calling americans stupid.. just the practice of refusing to accept you're american, but instead having to be a sub-culture american of some kind.
The prefix to the word "American" is what counts for stupidity, not the word American itself. I'd suggest you just reread the post again and try and understand what you're missing, otherwise you're in danger of looking like you're deliberately trying to make an ass of yourself.

Pet peeves?
People that come onto a "Pet peeves" thread, specifically to whine about other people whining. That's just pointless instigating.
People that don't read a whole post, or miss the point completely, quote a section of it out of context, and subsequently turn it arse about face to make it into something that it's not.

People who say "quote, unquote" and then quote someones words outside of those quotes.

Yeah, they're bloody awful to look at. Worse still, they're a big part of the reason we got so many powercuts down here in Florida. It's like "let's make the whole place look untidy as well as, making it easier for the weather to screw everyone's electric supply for a few hours every time it rains". :frown:

Folk that leave dead old bangers/cars sitting in the street or drive way for years, don't see it where I live now but it was local protacol when I lived in Modesto.

Yes I have to agree they get so overly agitated!
