NH.

That stretch of the motorway that's 50mph for no reason except to gun people for speeding as they always have cars lined up as they go past the 65mph sign.

Now while I don't mind that NH, unlike ME/MA doesn't have the entrapment law for speeders so that cops don't have to have their lights on while doing a speed trap, they do take the piss with their brown, camo painted state trooper SUV's, that park in the roadside ditch and bomb out of no where to clock people.

I didn't get clocked, but I almost shat myself when the pucker shot out of nowhere to blow right past me.

Congratulations Bob, it took you until the afternoon of January second before you posted your first peeve of 2015.

I so almost posted that when we got home, but figured I should give it a whole day first

And what needs to be added to that peeve above, would be the new signs the motorway down my way have put up, along the lines of "This is a highway safety corridor, driving laws strictly enforced". They're clearly not because if they were, there wouldn't be any commuter traffic because every arsehole on the roads would have been pinged long ago :o

Tourists who want to go skiing but are afraid of mountain highways and insist on going 60 in a 100. Irritates me to no end.

Signs on the freeway that state, 'Report Drunk Drivers. Call 911"

I just wonder how that works in practice?

I called the NC Highway Patrol number once, when I found myself sharing the interstate with a young woman who was obviously intoxicated and reclined so far back and/or sliding out of her seat that she was barely visible above the door of her Honda Accord. She was weaving from lane to lane and even off the side of the paved area. At one point she was doing 60mph entirely on the grass median! ..... I don't know if the Highway Patrol caught her but I had an opportunity to pass her and got the hëll out of her way.

There was a guy shot by me last week in the dark, weaving a bit. Texting? Drunk? Inattentive? Who knows...

Do I call 911? And then by the time they got there, if they came...

'The 911dispatcher will ask for a vehicle description (make, model, and color), the exact location, as well as the license plate number'

Which would probably result in me weaving all over....

Pretty stupid.

I previously thought it meant if you knew a friend had set off drunk-driving or something like that.

The new pavements the town put in over the summer, where they used to have space for the snow banks in winter. Wondered what their plan was for winter.

Well there's no room for a snow bank, so the plan is to use the new pavements as a snow bank and now plough them...well it's been almost a week.

They only just cleared the snow off the pavements down on my end of town yesterday.

I'm wondering when winter is scheduled here.

Still I've been enjoying hiking in the cool, crisp sunshine...tshirt weather.

I think we have your share of winter as well as our own. It is currently 25°F and blowing a gale. By dawn it will be 10°F with a windchill of 0°F.

I see your 10°F with a windchill of 0°F and raise you (should it be "lower you"?) 8°F with a windchill of -11°F in NYC (this morning at 05:00 when I had to get up for work).
