Pet Peeves?

They put me to sleep pretty much as soon as all the paperwork was done, do ya think they knew?
They found ulcers in my esophagus (sp?) and also sent off a snippet to pathology, no idea what they found if anything, Jay was in charge of getting the info from the Dr and errrrm, well, at least I go back in 2 weeks to see him! Have to have another endoscopy in March, I do have a script for meds that have to be gargled before swallowing, will see how they work. The lab work I had done before the test showed high creatinine levels in the kidney (so the paperwork says) so have referral to see what's up with that, also some swelling in the bowel area? Wish I had been more compos mentis when the Dr came to chat, but i'm sure everything will be fine

Hope it goes well - been there, done that, got the t-shirt etc. My GERD is apparently due to a small hiatus hernia.
I expect you will get the same advice I did. Cut out caffeine, chocolate, spicy food, greasy food and alcohol as they all make it worse. Although with me, citrus fruit, my dad's bacon sandwiches and fresh baked pretzels seem to be my triggers.
I was on a PPI for over 15 years, until I weaned myself off them (long story) and now I can manage on eating sensibly and the odd Zantac if I have a blowout.

Chocolate and alcohol defo are triggers for me. I can do without alcohol but I can't live without chocolate.

I had my two gastroscopies without sedation, so I got a running commentary and even a view of what the camera saw.....

One of the other endo' patients yesterday was going in without sedation, not my idea of a good 'show' to watch!

the rest is more weird and unpleasant than painful. With me they continued in to the stomach and then duodenum. Could feel it wiggling round in the intestine and a bit of pulling as it took samples for biopsy.
Afterwards I didn't particularly appreciate the hanging around waiting until the throat spray wore off and I could demonstrate I could swallow and burp ok (fizzy drinks!).
Could have been worse. I'm female, I've had cameras shoved into far more undignified places.

The worst bit is the tube going down, but once the business end is past the back of the throat the gag reflex stops and they stop holding you down.

I was the same with the dreaded colonoscopy. Worst bit was the sore gut with the bloating afterwards. Luckily, nothing nasty found.

Yeah, with a family history of diverticulitis, I expect I can look forward to completing the unholy trinity of "oscopies" as I get older - the preparation for a colonoscopy doesn't sound great though.
