Amazon bought Lovefilm last month, so maybe it will get good soon.

"Amazon has had a 42% stake in Lovefilm since selling it a DVD rental business in 2008. Now it has bought the remaining 58% of the company."

Loving the Netflix suggestions, thanks everyone. Some we've watched, some I am going to add to our list.

One series we loved was Doc Martin. They have all four seasons available via streaming.

Has anyone seen the series In Treatment?

I'm fed up of this one DVD at a time crap...I'm splashing out another $10 per month to receive 4 at a time.

You know, a part of me misses when you could drive to the video store, browse the selections and pick out as many movies as struck you as interesting. The late fees from that time were ridiculous, but I liked the instant gratification.

Agreed but streaming is the way to go. TBH Netflixs reeled me in with streaming Hercules...then the first 2 series of Dexter. After that mailing DVD's is so prehistoric.

What about the Red Box thing at grocery stores? a buck a day or a $1.50 for a Blu Ray...pretty good value for movies...not much use for tele.

In Treatment, sounded good, but I didn't like it, though I didn't watch from the beginning which I think would have helped.

Other shows, Heartland, it's a good Canadian show, about horses.

Corner Gas, that's pretty good Canadian comedy too.

Breaking Bad, drug drama thingy, amusing.

Emma, more period stuff.

Mistresses, about what it says on the tin, first two series were good, third series is a waste.

Murdoch Mysteries, cheesy Canadian Sherlock Holmes wannabe type show that's pretty amusing.

Mutual Friends, Brit comedy from a few years ago, friends ensue chaos after one of them commits suicide...very bizarre, but rather funny.

Outnumbered, comedy improve about a family, weird, but pretty good.

The Border, really good Canadian drama about shenanigans happening on the border.

I haven't tried Red Box to be honest. I liked being able to pick up the videos, read the back, etc. Similar to what you can do at a bookstore - somehow it's easier to browse that way vs. online. Oh well, I think it's gone the way of the dinosaurs. The last time I went to Blockbuster (a couple of years ago) it was nothing but games and I decided there was no reason to go back. Today we mainly order things off pay per view, but you're limited to what they have at the moment.

Incidentally, if someone is looking for something good to watch, check out "The Lottery", a documentary about charter schools in Harlem.

Redbox is great. I use a combination of that and Netflix. Sometimes a film I'm gaggin to watch is on long wait on Netflix so I reserve it online while I'm at work and just walk in the front bit of the supermarket that's on my way home and grab the movie.

Of course this plan goes all to cock when there is a family of 7 all standing in front of the box, going thru every choice and reading the description of every title and then arguing about each one

My Boxee box just added Netflix support, so I've just taken the months trial. Looks pretty good so far. Season 1 of Roseanna - ace

Streamed "Restrepo" the other night. Well worth it and made me feel like an ass for complaining about anything, ever. Everyone should watch it.

For the DVD folks, been getting "Freaks and Geeks". A really decent show about high school kids. Makes me literally LOL several times per episode, and me actually laughing is a pretty rare event. Especially at anything on TV.
