Yes it's red. He had an electric blue one in the UK, but had to sell it when we moved here.

I don't notice that it is curved when watching it, but there are times the picture does seem to have more depth to it. City scenes for one and last night watching a program the actors were on the front of a navy ship with the camera just above eye level it had a depth to it I hadn't seen on my previous flat screen. Also it picks up much less reflections from the room.

Looking at the flat screen and the curved screen side by side in the show room the picture on the curved screen appeared to display a better depth to the picture. That was a flat screen with an identical spec to the curved one other than the screen shape. Also the curved screen gives better contrast. I would say the curved seems better than a flat screen but that is hardly noticeable at 55" and more noticeable on a bigger screen.

My wife has also commented on the greater depth of the picture and neither of us sit in what is termed the sweet spot for a curved screen.

Now is the difference worth the extra cost, I guess the only way to really know is have both and watch them side by side for some time. Also I didn't pay the sticker price it was much closer to what they would have sold the flat screen for, which made it worthwhile. We are certainly very pleased with it.
