My recent approach in these type situations is to ask what they make (roundabouts) and then base my tip off of that, also I take into account the service we've had. So if we've had really good service, I'll probably leave 3 or 5 bucks.

(I know, I can't believe I am writing this myself, but I have changed my ways slightly since realising how shit service really can be at times)
