Saying that, I have mellowed quite a bit to this place, there are some things I would definately miss if I left the south, and the weather is awesome!

I have an English store that I go to every so often. I stock up on Digestive Biscuits, Mushroom Soup and Fish Fingers and other items.

Only thing I found is that some of the food is very close to the expiration date. It either takes a LONG time to reach the USA, or, they buy this stuff cheaper because it is going out of date.

I did find a place on-line and was happy to be able to order my HOOLA HOOPS.
I buy the box of them, and it doesn't work out to bad price wise.

Here is the link if anyone is interested.

http://www.foodireland.com/

And if you sign up on-line with them for their Newsletter, sometimes they also have a $5 coupon to use on an order

You are sooooo lucky. I cant find shops and supermarkets, only stores and grocery stores! Is it true that "local" in American means "less than 3 hours away"?

I don't believe you ever answered my question about how long you've been in the US, did you?

BTW, some of your comments apply to most of the US, and not solely the South.

Another thing, NC is approximately the same size as England but with much less population density.

I'm still finishing off my last bottle of squash I bought from them, and i still have a few of the pickled onions.

You can get a few bits in Shaw's supermarkets, but a lot of them are out of date

Ive been in the US for 4 months, not long enough to get used to it all yet
For the most part, I really do like it here. Ive got to get used to the fact that it is just different here.

My wife is always complaining about the numerous jars of pickled onions that I have in the fridge...with only 1 or 2 onions in each one. I will pass on your comments next time we meet shoveling or the next time I am in the shop complaining about the price of Salad Cream.

It was quite good. Was surprised with the crunchy bottom (almost like rice crispies) but the upper level was quite good. I'll buy again and hoard for a time when I need a chocolate fix.

Thanks for pointing them out to me.

BTW, I'm not keen on the digestives. The Cadbury ones are still sitting on my desk with only 4 missing from the pack in over a week.

But Atlanta is a bit different to the rest of the south, it is something of an oasis of culture in some respects, but not all.

Oh and don't worry about missing the one-way system and boy racers, when you see the traffic system in Atlanta it will be like a dream....
