I had pantry moths once, but not little black wiggly things like in the rice. But the moths were in a box of dog biscuits and didn't appear elsewhere. I always thought they were more likely to be in dog biscuits because less stringent hygiene around dog food vs human food, but obviously wrong.

A pest control guy told me that carpet beetles can also come in from flowers in the garden, and also if you buy second hand furniture!

Went to Home Depot and bought 8 'Sterlite' Latching Boxes, 23 3/4 L x 16" W x 13 1/2 H, and 2 'Sterlite' Latching Boxes 23 5/8 L x 18 5/8 W x 13 5/8 H. Somewhat clear plastic.

I loaded them all up already. Obviously, having the 'clear' (cloudy) plastic helps identify content, and the built-in carrying grips are very helpful. But the lack of 'square' sides (they slope outwards, bottom to top, to aid in stacking when empty, and have some curved faces for rigidity) is not very helpful, and especially the 'ridged' base (for rigidity) makes loading items less easy (smaller items fall over on the ridges). Also, as discussed, they are nowhere near airtight (bug tight), and using bin-liners to address that would negate the 'see through' benefit.

So anyway, I'm glad I bought them and I will buy more. Not sure what to do about making them bug-tight, though (as I don't want to block the contents from view). I'm wondering if I could 'seal' the edges with this stuff:

I came across this while buying moving supplies from U-Haul and it proved to be awesome stuff. A good few stretch-wraps around the top of the 'bin' may just do the trick.
