I read somewhere over the weekend (can't remember where - hopefully not this thread:o) about some cafe threatened with being closed down because the smell of bacon was offending the "other religioned" neighbours. I can't find the link now, but googling it came up with quite a few places closed down because the neighbours complained about the smell, including a bridal shop:confused: That one kind of beggars belief - I mean, imagine, groom standing at the altar, waiting for new bride to appear, wondering what the hell he is doing, and whether his choice of "mate for life" was pukka, when she appears smelling like a couple of pounds of Danish and banishes all doubts in an instant!

BTW since you are dancing around your handbag (per your location), I will disclose that I was born with my white stilletos glued to my feet ;) (Trust you had black tights to go with those white stilettos) |

(Trust you had black tights to go with those white stilettos) I have paid my dues with the crappy stuff they call bacon here. I am going to lose my mind when I lay my hands on the real deal:egyptian: |
Re: Bacon - the thread
There's hope here in east central PA. One butcher at the Allentown Fairgrounds has bangers, using an original recipe from an old British lady. Another has access to Irish back bacon. I'll report back later on both.:fingerscrossed:
Meanwhile, Pulaski's notice of a shop in NC that stocks the real deal also gives us hope. |

Re: Bacon - the thread
Thank you Pulaski, because REAL friends don't do that to their friends.
I've been thinking of a real English breakfast all day long. |
Re: Bacon - the thread
Went to a bar (Brass Monkey) in NYC to watch the Autumn Rugby Internationals last week, they served proper pork sausages and english bacon...that bacon was like heaven.

Should be pork tenderloin, which is the source of the round meat disc in British "back" bacon.

Tenderloin would give us Canadian style though, looking at the way they cut it. I was "resigned" to buying half a pig, and getting the cut right. .....

I'm not a big sausage fan (insert your own joke here). I could only eat a cheap Richmond sausage in the UK and here I just don't fancy them.

You prefer a cheap sausage to a good size, chunkier, meaty sausage??? |
