Ice cream is great, bacon is too but the two should be kept separate.

Only in America could someone claim to have "improved" bacon by coating it in brown sugar before it is fried.

Ages ago I had a butcher friend cure me a whole belly to make bacon from.

Folks in the US drove a crazy amount of traffic to the post on my blog...mainly because it made this...

(You'll have to excuse the really really naff photo quality. One of the first posts I ever did and had zero expectation of using the photos I shpot on an old camera phone)

Awww thank you!

My Fiancee and her parents find it hilarious that I cook ridiculous meat dishes and BBQ frequently - they constantly tell me I'll fit in no problem where they live. :p

There is nothing at all English about that breakfast, its a tarts breakfast on a saucer and WTF has a cheddar pie got to do with a full English?

Must be a Boston thing ...

 ..... Everything on the plate is part of a "full English", except for the potato and cheddar pie (WTF is a potato and cheddar pie?). Oh, and it's missing the black pudding. :(

Admittedly, I'm sticking my neck out hugely here, but I would say it's a pie, made with potatoes and cheddar cheese.

I can accept that would probably be within the range of possible answers. :)

Onions MUST be included and are more important than the potato-cheese and onion pie-I make it all the time for him indoors :) but not for breakfast because that would be all wrong

Beyond that, I have no experience with it as a dish :D

Sounds like something I'd like though.

I suppose that having onions for breakfast would lead to a very quiet day as nobody would want to get too close...

Potato Cheddar and onion makes for a lovely Pasty. :)

Mrs. N. makes 'em for me. :)

They look bloody good. A combination of cheese, potatoes, onions and pastry can't be bad though.

I would. It's not that different to eating something like a breakfast burrito, or huevos rancheros.

I don't understand this idea of designating particular food items as being only for particular times of day. Why wouldn't you just eat what you fancy, regardless of what time it was?

I would. I've had cheese, potatoes and onions in some form at breakfast time plenty of times, just not usually all together in a convenient pastry-wrapped serving.

It'd be a pain in the arse first thing in the morning.

Breakfast is much more suited to a bunch of things that can all be thrown into a frying pan; or rolled up into burrito form.

It probably would, but pasta is just empty carbs. That'd fill you up too quickly and leave less room for bacon and sausages. And black pudding.

I'm with you on leaving room for bacon & sausages, but there is no need to leave room for black pudding

It's an Aussie pie shop...about as close as a proper full English you'll get here, even with all the pubs.
