The south isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, kind of surprised actually.

I guess if your a criminal and want to vote and live in a state that doesn't let you, once your sentence is completed could move to a state that will.

Why should they have to? By completing their sentence they have "paid their debt to society" and should be able to participate in its democratic functions. Doing what Florida does is disenfranchising an inordinate number of people, many who were caught up in the "war on drugs" nonsense of the last 30 years.

"The result: more than 1.6 million Floridians — about 9 percent — cannot vote, hold office or serve on a jury, according to The Sentencing Project, a prison-reform group. In most states, the percentage is less than 2."

We all know that anyone who attacks Trump gets an immediate counterattack. So...if Carson steps on Trump, this is Trump's response:

My guess for the Final Four: Trump, Carson, Bush and either Fiorina or Cruz for the last seat.
At what stage (date) do you think they will be down to 4?

My guess? it will be March Madness. - Mid-March 2016, after Iowa, NH, Super Tuesday (March 1) and March 15 when the Florida Primary is scheduled. I'm hoping we'll be down to The Four after Florida - maybe down to Two.

These elections are reminiscent of the Chinese Long March.

This is a good reminder that presidential politics are a marathon, not a sprint. Here are some past leaders at this time of previous election cycles:

9/12/2003 -Dick Gephardt led by 2 points.

9/12/2007 - Clinton led the Dems by 19.4 points. Giuliani led the GOP by 4.6 points.

9/12/2011 - Rick Perry led by 12 points.

You can see how that worked out.

They shouldn't have to, but unless the feds step in, not much anyone can do about it except those who live in said states pushing for change in enough numbers to get the politicians to care.

By June 7th, there might be people on my ballot who have already dropped out of the running... California has the primary too late to even really care.

Well, since it's been some time since Cali-mexico last gave its Electoral College votes to a Republican, maybe the RNC doesn't care enough to move its primary up.

We are led to believe that there are a few isolated pockets of Republicans up in the north, in Orange County and down around San Diego. Other than that, it's the Left Coast, so who cares anymore? Probably if California drifted off into the Pacific or reunited with Mexico the main concerns would be trade ties; and relief that no more Electoral College votes would emanate from that part of the world to keep screwing up our elections. No more Pelosies, Boxers or Moonbeam Governors to worry about.

The primary for all parties is on the same day, California likes to have late primary, nothing new but really a waste to have it, by the time it arrives, we will likely know who the 2 candidates will be even if its not official.

Mostly just the sparsely populated interior portions that are Red these days, even the conservative in the past coastal area's are now Blue for the most part, and would take a really bad democrat candidate to go the opposite way at this point in time.

Can't really say much about Brown, Arnold was in office when I left and there was still the hoopla over the recall election that had happened less then a year before.

I doubt he is any worse then the others who have been in that job.

Boxer is retiring, but I suspect a democrat will win her seat, but will be nice to finally have a new senator. It's been Boxer and Feinstein for a long time now....

Can't talk you guys into seceding? Just think, your economy, as the 8th largest in the world, already surpasses Russia and Italy, and California would be entitled to be admitted to the G-8. California probably contributes more in taxes to the US than it gets in return, so there's another plus with independence. Hell, if it would be good for Scotland it would have to be great for Cali. You could create utopia.

Well I don't live there anymore, so no say in state level issues (only get to vote for federal offices) but I don't think there is much interest in leaving, Californian's don't have the we want to be independent mindset that Texas has.

If Canada can manage as a huge country with roughly the same population, I am sure California could do fine as an independent country.

We can't go anywhere until we can sort out a water source.

But I'd be down with secession once we'd figured that out.
