Any politician running for POTUS who said they were an atheist wouldn't get elected today.

I don't think Obama believes in god, but he does believe in polling.

Don't worry that will be gone once the Donald is elected and Trumpism becomes the state religion.

My wife was very pleased to have the chance to vote for a Jewish candidate in the primary and then vote for a woman candidate in the general.

On the whole I agree it shouldn't be an issue.

It's that, and the fact that someone who believes in an afterlife has their finger on the button, so to speak, as well.

Or pray for victims of disasters, maybe they actually need constructive help like food, water and shelter instead?

What's that joke about the guy stranded on his roof during a flood. He keeps waving away the boat, helicopter and other rescuers saying God will provide. Then he drowns and meets St Peter who asks him why he turned away the boat etc that they sent him?

I'd bet Bill Clinton is too, but too smart to let on about it.

The silly thing is that many of the founding fathers weren't Christian anyway, being deists who only recognised a creator-god and not an overseer/rewarder.

You never know ...

I mean, you're bog-standard Christo wouldn't be a huge problem, but some of those evangelicals are mental, I wouldn't put it past a lot of them.

Why actually do anything? By praying you get to do nothing but claim credit for caring/helping ...
