Any politician running for POTUS who said they were an atheist wouldn't get elected today.

I think not being a member of a particular church is different to being atheist. Though apparently wikipedia lists him as protestant.
My wife was very pleased to have the chance to vote for a Jewish candidate in the primary and then vote for a woman candidate in the general.
On the whole I agree it shouldn't be an issue.

I mean, you're bog-standard Christo wouldn't be a huge problem, but some of those evangelicals are mental, I wouldn't put it past a lot of them.
