There's a great Sanders/Clinton town hall on MSNBC right now ---- but I missed Bernie!

Great, now everyone is complaint Obama isn't going to scalia's funeral. Turns out it isn't that uncommon for the president not to attend. If he had turned up they would doubtless complain how insensitive it was turn turn up after smothering him with a pillow.

Bitching and moaning about who is or isn't going to a funeral is old-woman gossip.

If Obama wants to do something, then it must be bad.

If Obama doesn't want to do something, then not doing it must be bad.

"While President George W. Bush attended the funeral in 2005 of Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, who was the last justice to die while on the bench, funerals of other justices have passed without the presence of either the president or the vice president."

The Obama administration is sending the VP but that's still not enough for "teh crazies". How.... predictable.

The right (of the Fox news and Breitbart sort) will complain if Obama gets out of bed on the left side .

It has nothing to do with checks and balances. Rather it's the idea that people decide that they've had enough with the current oligarchy and demand a change. Similar to when people decided that Jim Crow was bullshit and we got the Civil Rights Act.

Perhaps it's naive, but no more so that Obama thinking he could get the GOP signing kumbaya with him after a few nice speeches and some nice rhetoric. Or, for that matter is it any more naive than Hillary thinking she can convince House Republicans who have voted to repeal the ACA 60+ times to now expand it because she has experience and knows how to "get things done".

The US system is designed to make change difficult. The goal of US federalism to maintain stability, not to promote drastic change or even majority rule -- change is supposed to occur only when supported broadly on a variety of fronts.

Obama's naivete and dreams of being an inclusive president were counterproductive and prevented him from being more effective, so yes, I would say that repeating that mistake would be unwise. FDR wasn't afraid of irritating the other side, and Obama should have followed his lead.

Which is why Sanders' proposals aren't of the first 100 days type. It will take years to move the country back to the left and to representing the people.

So what is Hillary going to do that is different to either Obama or Sanders to effect the changes she proposes?

Could say the same for Trump and all his empty rhetoric.

Indeed, you could say the same for any of the candidates. I just don't buy into the notion that Clinton's proposals are more realistic than anyone else's
