WA - EBA4 Rural allowances.

Only worrying if you let it worry you. Could be if have a brood of kids and an OH who gets a job that is not easy to move from. They try to keep you in the same place for all of your contract. It is not in DET's interests to have you somewhere where you are totally miserable. If for some valid reason you request to move they will be open to that....Valid reason that is, not just I don't like the house !!
WA is beautiful. Even smaller more remote places. You have to totally commit to a rural / remote community but the benefits so out way any other issues.
You are about to embark on a great adventure and yes you will be anxious for the next few months. You wouldn't be a human being if you weren't. Waiting for meds to come back despite knowing all is well, getting docs verified, sorting out WACOT, booking flights, selling house/renting it out, waiting for placements to be allocated and what to ship....this all plays a major part and you will get stressed out a bit or a lot but, it's worth it.
Beautiful day here today. Predicted weather of 31 degrees. Going on a car rally in a few minutes once I get my arse out of bed and offline. BBQ with great friends and a nice glass of white on the patio later ! Off to enjoy my new outdoor life style ! This will be you this time next year !!!

In DET WA land you are a number whether you are Australian or other! None of us have nor will you have a permanent teaching post therefore you could receive a letter telling you to go to anywhere during the period of time you are contracted. They do try to keep you in the same place if at all possible.

However have to admit things could be changed as its now 2years later and economy has changed as is teacher demand.
But for us, the school was told you are with them for the length of contract.

The person who placed me did consider my interests, age and lifestyle and placed me (31) in a town with an average age of 29, where I have been able to make plenty of friends my own age with my own interests. In terms of career development, my post could prove to be a good one - my head of department's hopes for what her new staff member could and would do for the department, match very well to my own skills and experience.
