I would just like to second that.... But as I said in my previous post, and as a footnote I got into a full time permanent teaching post here in TAFE without a cert 4. I guess like the UK it is more about your general trade quals and teaching experience. It is (like FE) in that the expectation is that you will achieve the cert 4 within a negotiated time table after employment. But I went up against 6 other candidates of whom four had the cert 4. The hardest part is negotiating your pay AFTER employment. Everyone joins on 52k. Your then expected to present references, quals, previous job descriptors to ascertain where you start on the pay scale. I have only been in post 3 weeks now and I'm going through the process as we speak... I will let you know the outcome. Finally - I guess it would only enhance your chances if you started the RPL route. I would suggest TAFE as opposed to private trainers. For what its worth - on first examination after leaving one so soon and now being employed by another collge here in OZ. The terms and conditions are much better - and the workload is laughable compared to the UK!

does anyone think we will get in? heres the situation

my husband and i are both aged 34 and we have four small children. my husband is a cabaret singer and entertainment manager (does this score any points?) i am currently studying to be a teacher. we would love to go now, but dont think we wold have any points???

i can wait until i have qualified as a teacher, but do i then need to have a certain amount of experience?would my NQT year count as one year?
would we then have enough points to all travel on my teaching points?

are there many jobs as an infant school teacher? do you know what websites i can look for jobs on, so i can see the pay rates?

hope some one out there can help me a little. thanks
Successful completion of NQT year does count as one year work experience. Its worth getting in contact with a migrant agent, they will tell you if you are eligable for any visa & their requirements. At a guess permanent visas seem to want a minimum of 3 years ful ltime teaching experience, anything less then youd be looking at a state sponsored temporary visa but only where your job is considered to be in demand in that state. Again, liscenced migrant agents seem to know their stuff & can advise more accurately.

It is possible to get enough points after just 1 year teaching, but rare as you tend to need spouse skills, ITELS points and to be under 30.
