Hi,
Most people have already said, and you know the unemployment situation here in spain. Have you thought about Barcelona, The city is so busy and while im sure there will be lots of folk looking for work to, you may stand a better chance there. Tons of language schools, Bars, restaurants, toursim work, uve got the lot. I dont live there but i am there most months for work and the place is buzzing.. Ive always felt there is no perfect place to live full stop, and to a certain extent plump for a place and just give it your best shot. if you are employable people you will get a job..... |

Oh yes, I know it well, but it really wasnt the employment I was asking about.. Its the recomended place to live..
Employment is everywhere.. you just have to seek it out, I have applyed for 30 jobs in the past 4 days.... Yes its harder then years ago.. But its still doable, the amount of jobs that are online, at home.., and advertised... Im determined enough to get a job.. I would agree that those who have talent, skills and try (very hard) may find work even in these difficult times. |

Well Madrid also is a better place than most to get a job, and it also has that "buzzing" feeling. But the OP stated they wanted somewhere their wages could allow them to buy property, and I suspect the average price in Barcelona or Madrid is far too high for first time buyers.

I think the key word is "may", or more likely "may not". Many many thousands of highly qualified, highly skilled, highly motivated Spanish have found out that getting a job has proved impossible for them in Spain, and so have exported their skills elsewhere in the world. The fact that they have been prepared to emigrate with all that involves and get employment elsewhere proves they are motivated and employable. Just not in Spain. The number of Spanish moving to Germany alone last year increased by 4.5%, Germany is desperate for them.
