That's not my point. Mine was that they should deal with the rot in Westminster first.

Fail to do that and you lose all moral authority.

As tho they had any to start with...

True, but to be fair great strides have recently been made in that direction.
They should now set their sights on the Brussels gravy train,.... a tad more difficult to deal with methinks.

Yep, they have been hanging a couple out to dry, but it isn't nearly enough. Caesar's wife, and all that.

Jesus, even Brown and Cameron scuttled to pay stuff back, and that's just scandalous.

The British public will be impressed with their government chasing benefit cheats abroad; nobody likes the expats cheating the weather by moving to the sun in the first place, and if they’re doing it on fraudulent benefit claims the Mail and Sun debaters really erupt with fury. In a few cases, maybe they should, but whether you’re cheating the system in Bradford or the Costa del Sol, what’s the difference?

At the height of the timeshare scandal I went on holiday to Tenerife. There were timeshare touts every few yards, but the only person in our hotel who bought one was an unemployed man from Liverpool. I think he was working on the side as a comedian.

This is great news, I wonder how many will get caught in reality and if they do I wonder how many will leave Spain? Personally I thing benefit fraud is despicable, the bankers et all will always do what they will, when normal people screw hard working folk out of taxes like benefit slime then it somehow feels more hurtful. I hope this ends quite a few freeloading holidays and lets hope the gov be brave and stop any payments at all. Scum, the lot of them.

It is calculated that only 1 per cent of claimants are scamming and for the Government to recover the lost money will cost them a lot more than they are losing.

There are loads of frauds in this country that are costing the tax payer a small fortune like the 17 billion paid out from the public purse in wages when off work for no reason, or the guy that has took early retirement due to having a bad back but is quite capable of swinging a golf club in spain. Is there any difference between them let me know. Sorry if this offends

I'm wondering though why some people get so worked up about benefit fraud, yet seem to be at peace with the fact that so many Brits come over here and defraud the Spanish government out of funds by not registering their presence here, not making tax returns, keeping cars on Uk plates untaxed etc, and then of course are quite happy to go back to the UK to take advantage of the NHS even when they are not entitled to it any more :);)

Perhaps they feel that they are entitled, at least if not more so, than the rest of the EU who seem to receive full NHS facilities having paid Zip into it.

How do you mean BJ? You move to France for instance and you have to pay a top up for health care iirc.

Are you under the impression that ANYONE who trys to get to the UK is immediately entitled to full NHS cover?

Having made several trips to A&E and other NHS hospital departments this year with a family member I have never seen anyone being asked to produce proof that they were entitled to healthcare and were treated.
