Why do Spaniards hate British so much?

Thanks for your support. Ever since I joined this forum I have been used as target practice on every point of view I've ever put forward. Quite fun actually but there are quite a few out there I wouldn't want to meet on a dark night. I find the level of spelling quite shocking.
The general consensus was that as long as we got the jist of the post it didn`t really matter, not everyone can be perfect as you perhaps, but why should it stop them posting ?
You never know the more they post then the better they will learn to spell.
Don`t forget it`s not just the lack of schooling that can cause this problem.

We had a thread on the need of spelling when a young lady used to post on here that was unable to spell and someone gave her some stick.

My friends would really laugh to hear me described as perfect. I'm everyone's favourite pain in the arse.

Everyone is subject to 'fat finger syndrome', mis typing and the odd spelling error.
It's when the errors are really bad and frequent that it grates.
Apostrophes tho. Why do people have a problem with them?

Possibly!
I live in what has become a very popular tourist area in UK, and I have very little time for the tourists TBH, mainly because I don't make a penny out of them, I just see the downside. Full shops, carparks, beaches etc, screaming kids, litter dumped everywhere. However, if I had a business, making good money out of them, it might change my opinion a bit.
Loads of Spanish are making a good living on the back of Brit tourists, but true, they don't have to like them.
Plus of course, not everyone that goes to Spain behaves in the manner you describe, it's easy to avoid the awful costas, there are thousands of us that behave quite reasonably.
A good Spanish friend of ours rents out quality holiday lets, and his favourite customers are Brits, but then they aren't the Torremolinos/Fuengirola type clients.

Torremolinos now seems to have a majority of Spanish tourists, the Brits have moved on.Was reading today that there are now more foreigners living in Benahavis than spanish. It is normal to feel some resentment.
I used to hate tourists when I worked in London. Crossing Westminster bridge to get too and from work was a nightmare. As you say though it is different if you earn money out of them and most andalucians on the coast do rely on tourism if only indirectly. Pity they don't realise it and smile a little more often!

Bit like reading here of someone that teaches Spanish spelling "oposiciones" with two P's, it happens!

According to a Spanish travel courier myself and some fellow Brits met many moons ago in Cadiz, some thieving British raiding parties had stolen all their church bells from the city.
That was in addition to British pirates attacking their ships and stealing most of their gold.
However after I politely enquired how they had aquired so much gold in the first place, very little more was said on the subject.

I did apologize or sort of. Actually after living here for 18 years I am finding double consonants versus single ones need constant checking but at my great age I'm too lazy to do so except in the classroom scenario.

Barrio Pinet has some of the best houses in Oliva, best views and best climate. I was the token Brit on my district council in charge of education and culture and we had two gypsies, one a social worker, who was our secretary and a builder who was in charge of law and order. The rest were Spaniards who had successful businesses in the district and the Mother Superior of our local convent which was a village house next to Bar Pelut, the best bar in Oliva which had some gorgeous gypsy waitresses. you really ought to do your homework before you open your very big mouth.
10 years ago we rented a house there and had to move out because could not sleep at night because of the endless stream of people knocking on the door of the house next door and a devil dog marching up and down on their roof terrace who looked as if he could jump down to our garden at any moment. At first we thought it was the local knocking shop but quickly realised it was the local drug dealer where drugs were openly sold all night long. Punters threw stones up at their windows and if no response started shouting at the tops of their voices. A small kid would open the front door and take what we assumed to be money, shouted at the upstairs window and a small package would be thrown down.
I never saw any police nor any Spanish or whoever telling them to shut up. However when I put something in the street dustbin 5 irate Spanish neighbours berated me for daring to open the lid before 10 p.m! Says much about the builder on the council in charge of law and order and Mother Superior!
