When Saturday comes...

Fair point .... but then you're saying it's your opinion, not something based on any hard fact?
You see, Rooney wants to play. He always has. He gets seriously p!ssed when he's substituted and has be known to strop when not picked. It's a little strange to think that he's just swinging the lead. Also Fergy needs him to play right now, and I'm guessing the last thing anyone there wants is for him to be off for another three weeks, unless he really is injured

Despite all their widespread coverage and sensationalism, I find the media to be generally very naive regarding what is really happening behind the scenes in the football world.

The only thing that matters today is are Leyton Orient going to beat Rochdale and get out of the bottom four.
All other games are insignificant!

I’m not saying more than that, but I was living only a few streets away from Brisbane Road at that time.

Latest episode of the Rooney soap opera as seen by the daily wail.
....or how the other half live.
Now I see why he's out for at least three weeks with "a bad ankle".
Seems that lots of rest and lots of pizzas should set him on the road to recovery.

This is probaly me getting older, but wasn't football more exciting on a Satur day when all the teams played at the same time. We then waited in eager anticipation for the teleprinter to start on Grandstand and then dash out to get the Evening News so we could get the results and tables in full, and if lucky a report of the match?

You're right, I used to love going to pick up the pink Liverpool Echo at 5.45 of a Saturday evening but living thousands of miles away I'll take what's on offer - staggered kick-offs and the chance to watch for relative peanuts 4 or 5 live games. Where do you live johnnyone?
I do not have Sky in either house and have lost interest in the Premiership as I see it as no more than a business.
Mind you that will change in 2 years time when Leyton Orient are in the premiership and playing their home games at the Olympic stadium.
Ever the optimist as all O's fans are!

Of course it's a business. That's what it's always been, but then SKY got hold of it and it got controlled even more.
Its still good to watch the matches though

??????????
Sorry Matt, I don't see rugby union mentioned here,...however if you wish to start a thread on it, please go ahead
Meantime let's stick with the beautiful game.
....and please no more silly vids, we've seen em all.
Quite entertaining, but that Bloodgate one really takes the biscuit.

Yeah... a guy biting into a blood capsule is just the same as day in... day out... game on game someone falling over to try and get a penalty, corruption that is rife endemic and boring, over paid primadonnas that have, for the last 18 months been paid over £150 grand a week while everyone else has suffered... yeah... another top argument form Dick the Dastardly.
As we have seen recently, corruption is common in most sports these days, incl.your precious rugby union.
However to try and blind a fellow human being by attempting to gouge his eyes out must be very close to the lowest of the low and way beyond contempt.
Not my words by the way, but those of a somewhat disillusioned R.U. player.
Whilst I agree with you regarding some of the the excessive wages in football, at the end of the day it's down to supply and demand, as a result of the massive Worldwide popularity of the beautiful game, warts and all, so unfortunately it's unlikely to ever change.
