Good point, my VLP won't allow this and I have got a warning on my iPad sometimes when I have connected from both my PC and my iPad. Astrill charge extra for access from more than one device.

I disconnected from laptop but it makes no difference. It also keeps moving ip address to Spain! I have been in San Sebastion, Barcelona and Cadiz. Am wondering if it is something to do with our wifi router.

Back to basics. When you are using your laptop are you always connected correctly via the VPN to a UK server? Does this never drop out and show a Spanish location?
Did your VPN require you to load your router with new firmware such as Tomato or DD-WRT? Or was your router supplied ready to accept your VPN?
I have an Aseus router which I purchased because it can be loaded with DD-WRT firmware necessary to run my VPN, although Astrill also works with Tomato firmware I believe.
On your iPad settings have you switched on VPN? I did when I first got my iPad and had exactly the same problem with the VPN dropping out. When I slid the setting to off I found the problem solved. Connection to my VPN is always on.
So if you haven't tried it already, in Settings on your iPad slide VPN to OFF!

Anyway it appears the problem has been solved by downloading a different VPN called VPNOneClick. So simple, so cheap so much better than HideMyAss. Now working. Thanks guys.

Surely disabling it would mean it couldn´t connect?

Yes I agree, but I can only relate my own experience. I'd been using a VPN with my PC for a year. When bought my iPad in November, In its settings I switched VPN on as it seemed logical to do this. What happened though was that every time I went to use my iPad my IP address had defaulted to Spain. I couldn't understand why and after some time trying to solve it I went into settings on my iPad and found VPN was off so I'd switch it on. Picked my iPad up again later and guess what my IP address was back to Spain. Once again in the iPad's settings VPN was off. After some time I realized that every time I closed my cover which put it in to sleep mode or switched it off, when the iPad was on again, VPN had been switched off!
The solution for me was to switch off VPN permanently on the iPad then go into the router's settings via URL 198.162.1.1 and connect my router back to the UK server which had been disconnected by the VPN switching off when the iPad was off. Now, because the VPN setting is off all the time it can't switch off and disconnect me.
So, for me, since this time my IP address and VPN have been rock solid with VPN on the iPad set to off.

If using the VPN on the router the iPad will be connected via that and you leave the VPN set to off as you found.

Now when I access the router settings I can choose any country as my IP address but I have it set to a UK one nearly all the time.

I don't intend to install it on my iPad as my VPN provider charge more for use on more than one device such as iPad and PC.
As it is now, my iPad connects through my configured router, so it's fine for me.

I use HMA, and have had no problems on devices. If it works when you change to a certain server, untick the change server regularly button and stick with the one that works well. Different servers of theirs have different loads at different times of the day. Mine is set to go to the least loaded server

As I explained in an earlier posting my Aseus wireless router has DD-WRT firmware installed which was necessary to enable it to use my VPN service.

Thanks Fred, I wish you'd been with me when I was struggling to understand why my VPN was switching itself off!

My VPN is supposed to restrict to one device unless I upgrade, but I'm connected from my iPad, Apple TV, Sonos equipment and more and it doesn't seem to cause problems, so don't quite follow what they mean by "only one device"!
On a couple of occasions I've had an Astrill screen appear on my iPad flagging up that I should upgrade to use more than one device but that's all.
