i dont think so bill, remember Spain is not the costa del sol.
What you are describing with the dribs and drabs all day is Galicia much of the time.
Most of Spanish population do not live in the sunny south.

I'm not running away, it's only my opinion, I know it's different from yours, No sweat.

Do a google on Britains lost identity or read what David Cameron said yesterday.

I'm not alone.

And the sunny south is not always so either. Posted last March, four moths after the rains started.

Oh and yes,it has never stopped raining for over 3 months now.
We've had more than our fair share of rain here on the Costa del Sol. Its been pretty much constant since mid December. Floods, landslides......!

I don't need to love, I live here and compared to a great many countries the UK is a paradise, it may not have the heat that Spain has but it does have nice long drawn out evenings in the summer, something you don't get in Spain.

To claim that the UK has nothing good is absolutely ridiculous and shows us more than we need to know about the way you view the world.

Oh and DC made comments about militant Islam, if you need me to explain the difference between that and the myth of Britains "lost identity" let me know eh?

I know as I am most of the time in Alicante, and sometimes it is cold enough to freeze the balls off a Brass...

Bedstead.

On our list of things to do apart from family is charity shops and car boot sales, lots of cheap clothes shopping, food food and food.

What do you do apart from see family?

The weather had better be dry
Try to avoid going to the pub for a drink - I always felt I was being robbed openly when I returned to the UK from Spain. Still do - I don't mind paying more than £3 for a beer or wine, but feel the Spanish way of offering free tapas is far more welcoming than having to pay 80p for a poor quality packet of Walkers' crisps. Apart from that, the thing I feel the UK excels in is their parks and country houses. Within a short time the bulbs should be in flower, so try and go for a walk in a local park.

Well, I'm not on the CdS either. C de la Luz, me. True, I can only comment on my bit, as I have had no experience of the north of Spain. From the sound of it, I wouldn't like it so much......

Well, we still get the light till pretty late, and we get longer days in the winter, getting on for 10 -11 hours. Beats those short winter days.

Agree that the UK is better than a lot of countries, but look how bad some of those are!!

Quote from David Camerons speech

At a security conference in Munich, he argued the UK needed a stronger national identity to prevent people turning to all kinds of extremism.

That surely means it's weak?

Nothing much wrong with the UK's national identity. We drive to work in a German car (or German train carriage), use a PC with American software, drink Australian or Danish lager, keep our money in a Spanish owned bank, wear clothes made in China or Thailand, and go for an Indian or Chinese as a treat.

Can't be long before everyone catches up!

No, it just means it isn't so defined. The English don't usually make a lot of fuss about their identity, presumably thru self confidence. The more insecure jingoistic types go in for a lot of flag waving.

No, it means he is trying to say that the fault lays at the feet of the extreme muslims and partly at the feet of the moderate ones, Pakistani (they tend to be the most disaffected and disenfranchised muslims in the UK because of cultural reasons) communities are closed societies and insular so no amount of outward pressure will ever help the situation, but because of cultural sensitivities he can't openly say it, so in diplomatic speech he lays half of the blame squarely on the UK as a whole.... that way people don't feel like they are victimised.
