I am trying one out at the moment and it seems pretty good and there is no ongoing monthly charge except for the VPN.
Can you let me know how you are getting on with your box Fred.. Thanks

Yes, it is working fine and has a very easy user interface.

The home page shows icons for BBC iPlayer, ITV player, C4 on demand and c5 on demand plus Filmon, TVCatchup and a link to Mobdru which contains a huge number of channels including all the sports channels and much more.

Unless you want to delve further there is no need to use XBMC (which is preinstalled).

A wireless mouse/keyboard for around £12 makes it easier to navigate.

In case of sometimes slow internet speed, is it possible to download iplayer programmes to the box and play back later on the tv?

In other words is there HD or usb storage that will enable download and play back of a downloaded iplayer programme on the tv?

If not how would i do that? IE I like to download lots of stuff overnight and watch the next day in HD.

I can do that using ipad/AppleTV/TV. How do i do it using android box

'The' Androidbox has 5 gigabytes of available storage & an external SD card slot that supports up to 32 Gigabytes of storage.

There are also 4 USB ports that support usb memory sticks & hard drives.

Choosing the download option in iplayer it asks for the storage location. You browse to download folder usually & click ok

If it's this one, then they likely are simply inputting the VPN data into the network setup before shipping it. They may be downloading the iPlayer apps too, but that's pretty easy (and free).

(note: we have several of these)

I should start a business in this. Looks like about €50-€75 profit on each unit.

Differentiation needs to be applied when comparing 'Del boy' Ebay traders to
professional software developers

Most of the companies selling IPTV boxes in Southern Spain (where the UK channels are now unobtainable) are selling these boxes for up to €250 with an ongoing monthly charge of up to €45 for content that is freely available.

Compared to that a £40 markup, including customisation, free remote online support and free updates seems, with no monthly charge, pretty reasonable to me.

Hi Fred.

I've just spoken to David at Android TV Solutions and think I will purchase the same box as you have. Are you still pleased with it?

Is it difficult to install?

Seems like a good solution to me.

Thanks Fred

Yes, I like it more every time I use it. It's very easy to install - just plug it in and go. I suggest you get a wireless mouse/keyboard to go with it. The standard remote is a bit limited for navigating round the screen. There are some on the products page.

He now has some "how to" videos on his site.

There has been an update to BBC I player which will require you to sign up for a Google Play account.

Full instructions in the forum part of the website, and a video coming soon
