You've proved my point.

Weather turned bad in Surrey ?

PS. British is spelt with capital 'B'. A big 'B'.

'a bit of good old british appeasement...'

Now who's slinging insults, fool ?

I'm half way down my second bottle of beer.

Don't go to bed, we're fast becoming a much loved late-night double act.

Two threads about Gibraltar running at the same time ?

Eight or more threads turned towards putting the Gibraltar point of view in the last month?

A slew of links from the office about the 'White List' in one post ?

Yes, Gibraltar for the Gibraltese, but what the ***** is going on in BritishExpats ?

"The Chief Minister said: ‘Gibraltar and the UK have gone on the offensive in the international press to demonstrate that Snr Margallo’s attitude was not conducive to good neighbourly relations. I have no doubt that people will not rise to the provocation in the Spanish press and to a few individuals in the social media. That helps us retain the high ground in the argument.’".

I take the last post as an ironic comment. HMG reaction to the dispute is note even remorely close to the propaganda being vented by Gib and Spain.
The Gib propagandists should realise that few in the UK gives a toss about them.
We do not like the Spanish or anyone foregn country telling us what to do. but do we care about a few 100mtrs of sea, or queues at the border , not really.
We do care that the UK is peceived by a large % of the world as being an outdated colonial power when the real problems exists between a Spain with a regime diverting attention away from its own problems and " local councilors " in Gib who have got to big for their tiny boots.

National interest? That'll be a first then, but a pleasant change from all those politicos and business men taking/giving bungs to line their own pockets. I could understand Spain wanting Gib, it's everything Spain isn't, successful, has almost zero unemployment etc but they'd bring it down to the level of the rest of failed Spain within a few months of having their bent politicians running it.

"if Spain want it so bad why not just walk in there with its army?" I think the last time Spain went to war on it's own was the Ifni war in 1957.

I have a feeling that one of the conditions of EU membership is that one EU member won't wage war against another. So while Spain may have some desire to get Gib back, their desire for all that luverly EU grant money is even stronger.

Absolutely! They will be offered some sweetener. It was all a sham anyway, just a distraction for Rajoy and the PP. Just third world tactics like Argentina:lol:

but Argentina is a close buddy of Spain and they still want the Falklands - sorry Malvinas - back so they can exploit oil deposits.
But Spain must be getting desperate if they think that linking with the Argentine for anything will serve their purpose

I think the only reason Spain is trying to cuddle up to the Argies is to get a better compensation deal for when the Argies expropriated most of the Repsol operation in Argentina (YPF) and refused to pay decent compensation.

EMR Aug 16th 2013 4:27 am

Re: Underhanded spineless scum

Most of south america support the Argies in their claims for the Falklands.
The action by Spain is perfectly logical in diplomatic terms because it is seen as in dispute with the common enemy the UK. Spain raises its profile in the wider world.
Domino you usually post a lot of sense but why the hell do you think that the UK wants to keep the falklands and its territories.
Nothing to do with the oil, mineral reserves, fishing etc.
