I wouldn't recommend Transponder now, too many dodgy things happening.

Yes DLC you are right - since I posted that Transponder seems to have problems - but the fact remains the internet is still a good option (if you have a good ADSL service)

what did you settle on?

We have 4g and it is a mixed bag. At certain times ( schools out, adverts in popular Spanish soaps ) we get buffering. Movistar, our supplier, cannot provide a fixed ip. Sometimes it changes daily. We have given up trying to use DNS and apply VPN each time we want to watch something. I believe the VPN slows the service too.

In the end we got an Orange unlimited 4g sim,. bit pricey at 35 Euros a month, but it comes with Orange TV,. Just the app mind you., about 60 channels. Why we went for Orange is because we knew from having used Sky UK sims in our phones (who use Orange in Spain) that the connection was good in our house. Seems a reasonable speed, good enough to watch tv etc. Coupled that with Nord vpn, (downloaded it to all my devices) and no problem watching, iPlayer. Sky news, Netflix UK, etc etc. Very rare occasional buffer, and then only for a second or two. I set my to TV automatically connect to a UK server every time i turn the tv on. although have to turn it to Spain, if i want to watch Orange TV, I think i paid around £60 for 18 months for Nord vpn before i left the UK.
