The wife and I like it so much that fingers crossed we can stay in Spain "forever". Its certainly where we see our children's future despite the difficult economy

As long as the pool is around 28C then 24C is perfect for me. I love swimming but when you live there, there are only so many hours you can spend in or around it or life would be very boring. As C/Man says, he wants to explore the area...who wants to do that in 30C+.

No. I came to live and work in another country, for the experience and to improve my Spanish. Initially for a few years

Cman is cman, strong in his opinions, but he has the right idea, I would bet his children do better than the usual expats kids, whose parents open a brit bar, serve brekkies at 2euros a throw, dont bother to learn the language, get by for a few years because it is their dream.
I am sure most posters know people like that, I do, and I have little respect for them.
Not everyone is doomed despite the economy in Spain, there will be lots of kids who will be the success stories of the future, and children like Cmans and marida, will have all the advantages of being bilingual, not like so many expat kids who without parental input, that end up being thick in 2 languages, as is often seen around the costas.

A refresing change to hear that, a lot different from the clowns that up sticks and sod the kids as long as the sun shines everything is fantastic and the wine is cheaper than the UK.

but at the end we still wake up to the cold and hard truth of life, for some that is a warm glow but for others it is the shakes and a desire to get back into dreamland

We all have dreams, but being an adult means making those dreams into plans, and knowing when dreams are impossible.
