Any country with hot and dry weather is going to get them, even the UK has been known to have fires that affect large areas of moorland, we used to get them near where I lived. But it's a bit harder to get away from them on a Greek island, for logistical reasons.
But seriously, I'm sure you won't be affected and hope you have a good time with your grandson.
My brother has come home early from his summer holiday in Cornwall every year for the past 3 years because they've had such awful weather. If he's got any sense he won't even set off this year. I feel sorry for all the people affected by the floods, some of them have only just cleared up after the last lot.

We used to have people come to the hotel in Devon and complain it was raining.... where I grew up in Scotland people used to come up and complain about the midges....

Good point. maybe we tend to remember the occasional good summer and forget that most years it belts it down most of the summer months. Glastonbury and Wimbledon often suffer from the rain... Having said that, this year has been particularly bad and it's been the wettest on record for the period April-June, and July so far has been dire.

Some people are never happy. I went on holiday in Costa Rica once and there were two English ladies constantly complaining about the rain.
The name of the holiday?
... Tropical Rainforest Adventure.

It has actually been raining in France and Holland all summer too. Washington has had floods. over 100 people dead in Russia. Someone will be blaming global warming soon
There can be a lot of rain in the Caribbean too. Doesn't last long though and it keeps the Islands looking green and lush.
We are still on hosepipe ban here...weather was ok until they introduced it. I hope the person who made the decision has 3 metres of water pouring through his house
I still don't understand why a lot of Brits dress as they do. Like as if to say if it's summer then I am dressing in summer clothes
I was in London Friday and it was showery. lots were dressed in sundresses, men in shorts and flip-flops etc
One good thing about all this rain...not many BBQ's...I hate the damn things.

Ah but it wasn't cold in the UK, so why not wear shorts? saves your trouser legs getting soaked.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, lost some of my bloomin photos though, bit cross about that, I will go back and take some more. I was in Wranglers and trainers though.
I'm making plans to pop back again now

Its been 16-25c every day since we moved to Asturias. A spluttering of rain quite a lot of days, but not as bad as the UK
One thing is for sure, it is way better than being down South at this time of year

We spent a couple of days in Rio Seco and although we had a little bit of drizzle, the weather was great, warm, not too hot, a great visit.
a few days of "cool" is great this time of year on my planet too.

For me, somehow the beach and the pool just wouldn't be the same in 16 and drizzle. But I suppose none of us can live without rationalisation.
