AFAIK they haven't found any wreckage and don't have the facilities to do so, but nor has any one of the ships in the area. I am suspicious that the Chinese have suddenly found aircraft and ships to send to the area whilst not doing so before. seems unusual for the pilot to leave autopilot on and just head south, especially considering all the reports as to the NW direction the live military radar people are claiming. Isn't it usual for any suicide to be carried out immediately before they can change their minds, which seems to be what happens the longer they wait ?? Quite possibly the suicide, if any, was carried out immediately the new course was set on auto-pilot. The Sat co. concentrated on the S.track because it seemed very unlikely the plane could have passed unnoticed through the possible N.track. The track calculation was very complex and had not been used before. Calculations from the Pings were based partly on utilizing the doppler effect and also the fact that the satellite was not exactly geostationary enabling them to calculate bearings and distance from more than one point. Maybe they will only know the truth if they're able to confirm who was on the flight deck and establish cause of death, as the voice recordings will probably be of little use even if found, due to the 7 hr time lapse. Despite identifying the location of some wreckage, the search area is still said to be almost the size of Alaska, due to the two week time lapse. As one expert claimed, they're not just looking for a needle in a haystack, they still need to find the haystack. |
Re: The UK news thread.
Only guessing, but considering the 7 hour flight on autopilot, it seems to suggest the passengers and crew were rendered unconscious or lost life whilst still in Malaysian airspace. Otherwise I would have expected some detectable attempt to make contact or take control of the plane.

Interesting point if it was the case, but I seem to recall that fairly extreme security improvements were made to improve flight-deck security after 9/11 so the question arises did the passengers have the ability to take any action ?
True, but that would assume either the pilot(s) were solely incapacitated or working together in a twisted dual-suicide. No extremist group has claimed responsibility. Suppose some major failure took place moments after last comm. Cabin loses pressure or fills with smoke, oxygen fails, rendering passengers & crew either unconscious or dead in minutes. Pilots struggle to turn plane around, make massive autopilot programming errors, inadvertently shutting down comms, and are overcome shortly afterward. Plane flies on autopilot for 7 hours with no live soul aboard before running out of fuel. It doesn't appear to be terrorism, so what else can it be? |

Alternatively as suggested on the pilots forum the passengers could easily have been starved of oxygen and totally incapacitated by spending enough time at a much higher altitude before returning to cruise level, the pilot of course having his own much longer lasting emergency supply. Apparently the plane was fueled up with one and a half hours extra fuel above the norm, giving it enough range to end up totally lost in the middle of nowhere. |
Re: The UK news thread.
I question the suicide theory (although not ruling it out) there are many ways to do so with theatre.. This would be one way, but there's no note or anything to establish the drama, which would be the entire reason for choosing such a dramatic ending.
I am leaning toward some sort of technical catastrophe leading to pilot error. There were witnesses said they saw a "fireball". Perhaps they did, but it wasn't enough to take the plane down, only incapacitate everyone aboard. |

The main contributing factor was said to be "woman trouble". I'm not sure exactly what the guys problem was, but it was said he was seriously depressed because his advances were repeatedly rejected, while most other aircrew were dipping their wicks on a fairly regular basis. |

Meanwhile some UK news - They're forecasting the hottest summer for 100 years. Last year's was very good, but I seem to remember the time a few years back we were promised a barbecue summer in the UK - it never stopped pouring. Hoping for those stuck in the UK they've got the forecast right this time..

http://rtlec.co.uk/120-days-of-hot-s...y-forecasters/ 'you are hoping for those stuck in the UK.....blah blah blah......' You make the UK sound like a Columbian prison, or a third world slum............ People are not STUCK IN THE UK AS, YOU PUT IT. Is it so hard for you to believe that people choose to live or stay there because they actually like it? |
Re: The UK news thread.
Blimey, I post some positive news about the UK and still the haters can't tolerate it!
I've posted time AND time again that there are many good things about living in London (and the UK). Examples I've given include theatres, river walks, parks and the rest...and of course there are many more The problem is obviously the "Spain Bad UK good" brigade have a certain mentality, and believe that because I disagree with their point of view, that I must be a mirror image of them. Wrong! I am easy to find, I do not hide behind anonymity when making personal attacks, and I don't operate as a clique. So I'm totally different (and proud of being so) to the haters! Suck that! |

Re: The UK news thread.
Yes some people find it impossible to believe there is life outside Spain. Some people manage to have a good time without sweating in the sun. I know a rich couple whose idea of summer is going to the Hebrides.
Some peoples idea of hell would stuck in an apartment in Madrid in 38C with no pool and the sea hours away:rofl: What was "positive" about your post anyway! We all notice your snide put downs. |
