What is the system / regulations over there ? id be skint If I had to buy new ones every so often, although I would probably have a more stable car there !
in general and if your a spanish local.you replace them when the wire is hanging out from where there used to be rubber.no basicly its more or less same laws as the uk.with the part worns you are taking a chance in a fast car as you cant have any idia what the tyre is like exept for a general looks ok.but it may have week walls or been run at the wrong pressure

Cool, I run them down to the wire now, lol.

I had a X5 not long ago with the tracking out and the bushes worn and there was wire hanging out of the inside, only noticed when on a ramp, ha ha,

I always make sure I have a good look at the tyre when buying and only go for the quality ones, I just had to buy a pair today as it happens, probably why I posted.

I ruined a tyre when in a hire car the other week but it was as we were on our way back to the airport and we were late, so I had to pay them 175€ for the tyre but the tyre was close to bald, im still arguing now with the company about it, had I had a few more days I would just have got a second hand one fitted and no one would be any the wiser.

At least I know if in future you can do that, i had a feeling it wouldnt be a problem in Spain, thanks Betris

well yes, I ripped that one to bits though so had to be replaced, I said it was a puncture, she said "oh no, its a little more than a puncture" I actually cried in the office but it didnt help, was gutted had it 3 weeks not one incident, one little flap having a argument about buying a poxy playboy watch and that caused a my eyes to wander

Bang, there we are changing a tyre in 40 Deg heat in front of a outside bar full of people, in my best whites aswell

ahh well, live and learn, it wont happen again !
