Then there is "lengua de suegra" which is the same here, mother in law's tongue.

Leftovers, that's "sobras" isn't it? I think of sobremesa as that period after lunch, the afternoon, programas de sobremesa, afternoon TV programmes. We'll await the experts!

I always thought that sobremesa is when people stay at the table after a meal and chat. Not necessarily lunch. sobre = above, mesa = table.

Yes, I think you're right, although it seems to have more to do with the afternoon. Just looked it up, and came up with this,
