Translation help please

I have just received this note from my kids school and I am having trouble translating - have tried google and babel and all it mentions in the translation is "detected fleas .... classroom"! - Also do they mean nits?
Tendose detectado pulgas nalgunhas das aulas do colexio, pregase as familias que extremen as precaucions, sobre todo naqueles fogares onde haxa animais que poideran transmitilas

putting together my spanish with the smattering of portuguese I have
Fleas have been detected in some of the classrooms of the college. Families are requested to take take precautions, especially in those homes where there are animals which could transmit [the fleas]
No, I don't think they mean nits. Pulgas is definitely fleas, and nits is piojo, in castellano at least.

hehe yeah, it's Gallego.
I can ask someone to translate it if you want but I'd say the translation that Rachel gave would be logical.

I haven't come across one. I can honestly say I'm going to make no effort to learn Gallego, at least this first year. I haven't decided if I'm staying yet so before I learn a regional language that might be useless to me, I'll wait a bit. Learning Spanish is a challenge enough.
There are some classes though for people wanting to learn Gallego, they are done in Spanish though, which probably isn't much help?
