But hey, easy enough for me to keep a bookmark and show again the export contracts Spain have recently won in the last year..I'll leave googling up and quoting 2009 websites (the freight one - wondered why he didn't post the link ) to Aggy...

Stevie lad, no offence, but sometimes I have to question your sanity with your train obsessions.

Obviously,as you have made very clear, all you want is something to crow about regardless of the cost to Society in general and the inevitable losses.

Bugger the poor sods who have lost their homes and can't even get their hands on essential medicines, they are nowt but a nuisance and of no significance at all in your fantasy chuff, chuff world.

Do you think these people are proud or even care a toss about your hi-speed trains when all they are trying to do in life is survive ?

Rabbiting on endless nonsense about train development in Spain, when the truth is that without German train design and development plus costly German loans of course which the nation will be trying to pay off for generations to come, you would never even have seen a hi-speed train in Spain.

Get your head out of the clouds and try joining the real people in the real world for a change or do you simply prefer to continue to look down on them from above from your fantasy train station in the sky ?

Just to be even handed, a similar thing is the Edinburgh Tram project.
Three years late for three times the cost! Still not open.
Who are accountable for these projects?

obviously we are Johnny

if we ran our homes, our businesses, in the same we we could perhaps excuse our home country for being in the state it is in.
but that isn't how we live (well most of us), we keep to a tight budget.
but public money appears to be a crock of gold at the end of the rainbow.

look how much over cost the Scottish Parliament was. OK they kept changing things during the course of the project, but over many years involvement in construction and refurbishment projects - very very few are finished within budget.

the problem with all these things is the Chartered Surveyors, the Cost Analysis guys seem to have no idea what the costs are.

However, in this part of Spain we have projects - like the Granada Tram - which have been slowed right down due to over-runs on cost, there can be no more funding from the EU so they are having to dribble money in when the public purse has a little available.

And the number of projects for road improvements we have in the area of the AVE it had all better be worth it, as we have new €1million bridges to retain the access road over the track to get to small hamlets with only a couple of dozen people living there.

While we're waiting for the Spain-France high speed link to open up next year, here is a very interesting site showing locations of various train services across Spain.

However no need for the personal abuse and offensive remarks.

I always thought better of you than that and I have no intention of getting involved in slanging matches.

As I've already pointed out Spain got into its present predicament of its own free will, none of my doing, so I suggest you take your revenge on those who actually were responsible.

You seem to suggest that Spain would be better off had it stayed clear of the EU.
Difficult to say, but had it managed its own affairs a little more prudently and put the EU handouts to better use, then it certainly would not be in the sad situation it is at present
You are a slanderous and a lying, and I will respond you every time that I find necessary

That's it Lampy, get it off your chest, I'm sure you'll feel much better for it.

Anyway I hope these new German trains serve you well, ....after all they cost us quite a lot of money.

We're entitled to waste our own money any way we please.

It's seeing another country wasting our money that I object to.

That's not a railway issue though, it just shows the ineptitude of government departments.
That could be a thread in itself!

I am sure there are people shuddering over this
They wrote the rules and then for "political" (?) reasons certain people decide to not obey them

and if Branson should declare this was a "personal" decision against him then perhaps he wouldn't be far wrong

there are many parts of British Business life where outsourcing is used and where the incumbent company is doing a good job within the financial restraints they get the contract without all this fuss.

This Chinese innovation looks great - a high speed train that doesn't need to stop at a station.

I'm sure that kind German lady will be more than willing to put her hand in her pocket again and treat the Spanish to another brand new railway system,..... even if only to keep our regular train buffs happy.
