The Chinese are slowly taking over by stealth almost everywhere it's worth their while gaining a foothold.

Been going on for long enough now without anyone seemingly taking too much notice.

I don't think they're spreading themselves around so much, solely for restaurants, bazaars and money laundering.

Probably the main reason they have been so successful.

thats the part you see, like an iceberg.
what about shuttered buildings on industrial estates (as mentioned on this forum a short while ago)

they realised a long while ago that taking over the west by the same method we used on them - over exposure to opium - was counter productive
now they are present in many areas just waiting, becoming part of the furniture,

conspiracy theories coming any second now..................

they have a different mindset, where life is cheap, where you mustn't build your house on the dragon's neck or eye, they still think we are barbarians and cannot think the same way as they do. They decide on a long term course of action to acheive a goal, if it takes centuries then it takes centuries, it is the goal that is the thing. Break the rules and not only you but all your family, including cousins and cousins children will "disappear".

as with the Japanese, who each hate with a vengeance, they live by "face", how people look on you and yours.

Scary... but true.

Last time in Valencia I went out with friends to have some tapas for dinner, on a Saturday night. We ended up in a bar that had been recently bought by some Chinese guys.

We were about to order when the guy told us that they had no bread! Remember that it was supposed to be a Spanish tapas bar, on a Saturday night!

At least he was honest enough to tell us before we starting ordering, but really, no way that would happen in a Spanish managed bar.

After that we started checking on several "Spanish" bars and saw that lots of them were run by Chinese people. My friends hadn't even noticed this.

Now, one of my best rice dishes was a supposed Spanish paella made in a supposed Spanish tapas bar in Greenwich that was actually run by Persians, I'm not scared of variations... but... no bread??? Please! :blink::blink::thumbdown:

I have also noticed many Fruterías run by Pakistanis, as well as many Halal butcher's and kebab places. But considering that the Arab population is rising I find that normal. Spanish bars without bread, on the other hand.... :rofl:

The rest of it, well I really cannot see any issues you have with these foreigners opening businesses in your country since they must have the appropriate papers to live here...would you rather they stole from Spain than contribute to it in order to allow you really have cause to complain

ELLISG, please do quote me complaining against foreigners opening businesses in Spain. :confused:

What I brought up to attention was a business auto called "tapas bar" in Valencia, owned by Chinese people, that happened to be not properly run. Other people here had already mentioned Chinese people running bars in Spain. I would certainly like a Spanish bar in Spain to be run properly, and I don't think that any Spanish bar manager would have run out of bread at 9pm on a Saturday night... that was the point. I do hope that it was a "one and only" thing and will actually give them the benefit of the doubt and go back later this year.

An Italian restaurant in Spain run by Spanish people? If I were an Italian in Italy and I couldn't have something considered basic such as parmesan cheese on my pizza or pasta in an Italian restaurant run by Spanish people I wouldn't be happy either. I expect Italian managers would consider it important to stock parmesan cheese in Italy!

Please attack when you actually have a reason to, in the appropriate thread... or is this simply personal now? That would be both sad and mean. :confused:

The Chinese are investing heavily in Africa too. When we were in Kenya there were large tracts of land deforested on the outskirts of the village. The locals told us the Chinese had bought it, they were very angry as they were putting the rare columbus monkey at risk. Money talks as usual.
