Back on topic........

Aaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I was just sat outside when I saw something on my foot. I flicked it off and then went to crush it with my finger (it was tiny) and the bugger wouldnt die!! Then it jumped  I tried and tried to kill it but it kept jumping everytime I pulled my finger off it. Now Ive got a sore finger and a bloody flea in the front garden!!! :curse:

Luckily there aint none in the house....................yet!!

Ahhh yes. Good old Blighty. £240 a month instead of £9, and god help you if you put the wrong thing out, leave the lid ajar.

All that and no sun worth a damn.

I just rung the council and they said monday to re-collect I told them that I won't be paying this months Council tax if thats the case as it's unhealthy to leave it that long since we're going to have a warm weekend and they said "ok within the hour"

Pond life :( How they can justify where the council tax goes is beyond me when people like yourself are paying a tenner a month and getting relatively the same service.

Actually, in Spain I don't get the same service. I get better.

I get a big bin near my house, and what I put in it is taken away, without anyone getting hysterical if anything juts above the top. Furthermore I get it emptied three times a week.

Ours bins are emptied every night except Saturdays and there are also loads of recycling bins for plastics, glass and cardboard. Extremely pleased with the services that we receive and what we pay for it.

Plus of course the Spanish have mastered the process of producing road surfaces that don't melt if they get more than 5 minutes' sun

BFHD.

Money moves around the system. If our gooberment weren't so grasping we would get more benefits from Europe. Instead, we get the tedious stuff but damn all benefits.

actually we get by far one of the largest paybacks from the EU, a legacy from Maggie that no one has ever complained about, from memory it runs into the billions.

Britain does very well out of the EU, very well indeed.

Plus a plentiful supply of regulation all applied without any pragmatism or intelligent thought.

As for Thatcher, that loathsome slag and her crew of buttsuckers should rot in hell.

Lamont especially. Were he on fire, I wouldn't p*ss on him unless I could p*ss petrol.

How are the Schools, police, fire & ambulances services funded in Spain? (central gov't) Whos pays for the street lighting? (there aren't many) Where does the money for Social services care come from? (not too many of these either)

It's very easy to run down the UK, but at least put it the context of what you're paying for, and balance that against the fact that, if as is widely stated on here, the average wage in spain is half that of the UK.

What you're actually doing in my opinion is exploiting your relative wealth - nowt wrong with that at all - if you really want to live like a king - move to India - then you could tell us how you pay somebody £100 a year to do all your housework, driving, cooking & gardening and they even give you sex on demand, but piss off with talking down the country that allowed you the freedom and opportunity to realise the life style you now enjoy.
