Taking spanish car back to the uk permanently?

Re: Taking spanish car back to the uk permanently?
As someone who is looking to buy a LHD car on UK plates there are quite a few dealers who specialise in LHD on European or UK plates, the prices are higher than a like for like UK car so unless they are making huge profits there should be no reason why you can't get a resonable price for your car, we are in the south east and there are 4 dealers within 20 miles of us that hold between 60-80 cars each, google Basingstoke lhd, London lhd center, Chesham lhd and Heathrow lhd, there are more around, good luck

Hi we had a Honda that we purchased in France (CRV) and thus lhd. We took it back to the UK for we were faced with huge downside in value in France and decided not to take the hit. We were offered (naturally) derisory values in the UK.
We still have it and I like driving it and it is (was) the top of the range Honda wise. So we were faced with change of headlights speedo and rear lights and fog.
I think from memory the whole exercise came to about £500. It is important to have the whole lot done by a specialist for they have to fill in a form for the DVLA. However headlights are available on the net.
Fortunately it is still going well so we will stick with it.

Just wondering as I took my Spanish plated car back to the UK and replated it with UK plates and it cost next to nothing. MOT, road tax and a set of plates. There was the possibility of it being inspected at a DVLA depot (bit like an extended MOT) but that didnt happen
The headlights are likely to be the most expensive thing, but as said, you can often get these on ebay or a breakers.
I drove a RHD car in Spain for 6 years or so and didnt really have an issue with it, so driving a LHD car in the UK will be the same kind of thing. just a bit more care, and not too much overtaking :-)

From memory the headlights were some £160 from Ebay the speedo some £120 and it cannot be a stick on they have to take the dash off and superimpose the mpg/kph. Then the rear lights and fogs. About £500 with everything.
However we went through all of this in 2013/2014 and you have to have a certificate of compliance for the DVLA and quite a few forms to fill in.
There is no DIY here!
