Hi Chiclanagir

Did you try BBC iPlayer too? And on the bottom right of your lower task bar you should see and extra Icon, right click and choose connect.

I have not tried the Sky player, For that I think you need to use the postcode from where your sky contract card is issued to.

It does work 100%, Try the FAQ if you are unable to get it to work, I will try later to give you a more comprehensive reply!

Kindest regards,

Carl.

Hi Chiclanagir,

Superb news. So it proves your connected correctly to Expatshield. Not sure about Sky player though, I will try it when I have time, just got too much work!

Not complaining though!

You do need a sky contract account for sky too, 4OD and itv player may work also.

Glad you sorted it.

Kindest regards,

Carl.

Most Sky HD boxes work better than the Pace 2600 - the lastest slimline Amstrads are really great!

Chiclanagir: I nkew exshield works with BBC and ITVplayer...not all the time with 4od...but was unsure if Skyplayer worked...from what you say it looks like it does not.

For the money I thing Abu dhabi Sports is an absolute bargain. It uses a smaller dish & never breaks up in bad weather so I really can't understand why so many people mess around with Sky in the first place.

Probably because they want BBC and ITV.

Abu Dhabi is superb for sports,

They have 6 sports channels in HD and show every Barclay's premiership match, Unlike Sky who only show 115,

However you also get Sky news HD, National Geo wild HD, National Geo adventure HD and Fox Movies HD.

And the subscription per year will be around €150-€200. But as stated NO BBC or ITV.

Regards,

Carl.

Second is that there is no dish fitted at the flat, and the owner of the building will not let me have one installed. As such, if a sky engineer were to come round it's likely he would suspect something and refuse to complete the install.

Hi all,
I haven't read all of the posts, but surely a dish is needed .
Sorry if I'm being stupid.

John.

Hi John.

You will indeed need a dish installed to be able to receive Sky! Have you asked the owner of the building if there is a dish you can share?

I have had clients move house as they were not allowed, Or could not get a signal physically!

They also must allow you by law, But its best to sort it out amicably first. I am not sure if there is a cable company providing services in your area as there is in Malaga
where we are based,

Perhaps another engineer on this forum from your location can shed some light on things!

Kindest regards,

Carl.

Renewal subscriptions are about €70 for the year. It's only pricey for the first year because you have to buy the HD receiver as well (but €300 isn't exactly pricey for what's on offer is it??).

Ok there is not BBC or ITV but there is MBC Action, Max, 1, 2, 3, 4, Dubai One, the Dubai racing channel & countless other English channels so unlike BBC & ITV there is always something worth watching.

All I wanted was to see two missed episodes of Game of Thrones. 62 quid a month to Sky too.

Hi Chiclanagir.

Have you looked into PVR receivers? Humax do one and it gives you the recording facility like sky plus but for people who don't want to pay a subscription!

Plus you get 4 HD channels also.

You can then watch one and record a second, as well as set it to record the whole series of something! Humax 500GB PVR HD, Google it for info. I remember you saying you had a freesat box! This is similar but with a Hard drive

Kindest regards.

Carl.
