Yeh, they used to try that on with me, ...but they've learned a bit better now.

Never say stamps for England or for the UK.

If they ask if they're for the UK, say No.

You can however buy stamps at the tobacconists ... and stuff the letters straight into the postbox ...
usually I'm not bothered about the cores and that they either use a handheld rubber stamp to "thump" on the envelope or sometimes stick a printed label on (but not often) but on the odd occasion I want a certified.
When its a postcard or something special for one of the younger relatives the BH goes to the tobacos across the road from work and they stick Spanish stamps on. The BH's nice has done a good show and tell about her visit to Spain, the bits and pieces we send her including posters for saints days etc so those stamps on the envelope add a bit extra to it all.

funny thing was we sent a certified to the Isle of Man the other day, he wanted me to write UK on it - my Spanish wasnt up to having a discussion about IOM not actually being in the UK, so I just did as he asked.

It took 3 days to get there. Our favourite time to post is Thurs or Fri, it travels over the weekend and arrives Mon or Tues.

Good choice.

We found, in the early days of trying to do things right, that items posted from foreign climes to the IOM, correctly identifying it as "British Isles" rather than "United Kingdom" often went visiting such places as the British Virgin Islands on their long journey. 'United Kingdom' may be incorrect, but it works!

Letters to my family normally take 2 days. I always put Inglaterra because that is what I was told to do years ago but when there was a relief postie recently she had to look on a price list and she said Reino Unido is on the list so I may change what I put.

I've never had a problem in many years always using Ingleterra at the bottom of the address, even when I post to the Isle of Man, I'm confident it will always get there if it goes to Ingleterra first, in fact I imagine that's the normal route anyway.

I would presume that Inglaterra was the route that mail to the IOM would automatically be directed.
