I agree, the MiDGT app is great and a must, but just to correct one point Fred makes about insurance, it does not give full details, only the name of the company and the date of inception.

If nothing else having it means that you do not need to carry your actual DL around with you meaning it cannot get lost of be stolen. Equally your car documents.
I do in fact carry a laminated photocopy of my DL and the same for my TIE plus photocopy of my passport which technically as a foreigner you are supposed to carry with you at all times but 'No 'effin way Jose' is what I say to that!

That is correct, but DGT have all the policy details on file. That is why you no longer have to carry your policy documents with you.

Just an update re renewing over 70. I have just done mine and renewed for maximum 5 years, so the new rules are not being applied here in Torre Del Mar

Yes I was very pleased at getting 5 years. Also my licence details on the MiDGT App was updated within 10 minutes ..
