The Spanish flu, was not Spanish. There are hypothesis and conjectures in that the flu or it came from Asia or of some troops of United States. What happens (and this are swords of a scientist and British investigator on a report of the spanish flu very interesting that I have seen) it is that during the First World War, nobody had observed that it passed something. Spain remained neutral, so people here could check (maybe with more speed than in the rest of Europe) that something happened. This was also happening in Europe, but with the confusion of the war the people didn't have the same observation, certain time would pass until the signs of the flu were seen. Then the Europeans believed that the flu was only in our territory and that it was our problem, when it was not certain. It was already extended

But the flu was not Spanish, nor of any European country. Has had entered in European territory, simply. Here the phenomenon was discovered before because we were not in war. However, that irony, at the end we win ourselves the unworthy fame

Glad my chat cured your insomnia - careful what you dream of after what you've seen tonight.

Yeah I know, thanks, but if I ever need someone to make sure the Spanish are painted in the best light I will call upon you.

Afternoon folks

I don't suppose there's much point in sending get well wishes to Mitzy, if he's currently on a plane! (Oh boy, that'll spread those germs round nicely!)
Watch out Galicia!

How are you feeling today SD?
I can definitely recommend gargling with soluble aspirin and drinking hot honey, lemon and brandy/whiskey
I have had throat problems all my life, despite having my tonsils removed..........and those remedies have always taken the edge of the discomfort - even if they haven't totally prevented the illness.
(Obviously, I had to do without the alcohol part of the remedy when I was a kid! )

I have had a similar bug since last Sunday, but I don't seem to have had it as badly as poor Mitzy.
Started with a "lumpy" throat and sore glands, then developed an annoyingly pathetic cough..............and last night almost lost my voice entirely!
Had a few aches and pains, but put that down to moving house.
Can't say I've felt particularly poorly with it, but the cough has been very annoying!

Anyway SD have you got Sopcast? You could be watching City at the moment, you know
Hope you will be feeling much better very soon.

Love and hugs,
Sam xx

Re spreading bugs on a plane.

Don't forget it costs money to recirculate air, while recycling the air in a forced cycle of reinfection ensures that all germs are shared out equally.

Since that has no effect on profits, no-one cares!

How right you are bil!!

My O/H flew to Orlando in January with his brother.
Within a week, his brother had a flu type bug........... which he kindly shared
My O/H was ill for 5 WEEKS!!!
He developed a hacking cough; and coughed so much, that a fortnight ago he twisted a muscle in his (very weakened) back, simply by sneezing!!
This happened just as we were about to move house.........so I'd love to strangle the airline's owners for putting profits before people's health!!!!!

The wife now makes us all use "vicks first defence" nasal spray in the airport and a couple of times on the plane - don't tell her I said this but, for the last couple of years we've always fared pretty well!!

Hey LB...........thanks for the tip!!
(Don't worry, I won't tell your wife )

Seeing as my O/H travels to the States at least twice a year, and then maybe to the UK (if he really has to!) I'll definitely recommend that he uses some of that stuff.

I'm feeling extra guilty now, because I'm just recalling that a few years ago, my friend caught a horrendous bug from me................just a few days before flying to Thailand for Christmas!!!
She said she's never felt so ill in her life, and she was sure the poor bloke she sat next to was REALLY chuffed!
I dread to think how many other poor folks had their Christmas ruined that year by "my" germs

I know we all like to pay as little as possible for our travel priveliges, but I'm sure that the airlines could protect us more than they do
I'm going to wear a mask on the next flight I go on!

PS Talking of taking medication on flights, do you take aspirin on long haul flights?
I had a DVT a few years ago, so I make sure I take aspirin before and during the flight; and I make sure I get up and move about regularly.
The best bit of all though, is that I get to wear some ultra sexy black support stockings!!! PHWOAR!!!
