They do Gatwick to Gib, I know that's not good for every one

Lots of airlines charge now for hold baggage, we flew with Irberia to Ibiza last year and was charged hold luggage fee, it cost more to fly from Malaga to Ibiza than it did from Gatwick
Good thing was we got to pick our seats when we booked

Personally I wouldn't go to Gib without a gun at my head. We flew there the first time, but never again. Jerez is cleaner, nicer, the people are more pleasant and above all we don't have a 4 hour wait to cross the frontier.

Pleased to hear that the frontier into 'La Colonia' is now reduced, and you are right, it was nearly 4 years ago that that happened. The airport was so squalid compared to Jerez that that alone would have put us off.

They are going to spend mega €`s on it soon so you can depart from or arrive into Spain or Gib and changing all the frontier crossing into Gib.

I'm near Stansted, so it's only any use if there are flights there from Stanstead.

Hi all,
Have just found this thread and thought I would ask some questions, since you all seem to know what you are talking about. I asked a similar question in another forum and am waiting for responses.
I see a lot of adverts from RyanAir and the like, which tells me that I can fly away to warmer climes, or Ireland etc for as little as £1.00? Is this true? If anyone has tried I would like to know what your experience was and what the full cost of the Return flight would be.
Thanks and hopefully I am not hijacking this thread (hmm that was not intended to be a flight joke).

You can fly at the moment with Ryanair for as little as 0.01e from Jerez/Seville to Standsted but only on selected dates and you really have to search to find them. I have just found some in April and May after spending hours on their website.
My daughter and her hubby often fly to Knock (Ireland) for £1.00 and often on the Irish flights airport tax is paid as well by Ryanair. Many peeps moan about the company but to be honest you get what you pay for; there are lots of hidden extras but they can be removed before booking, there is a charge for luggage and checking in, but if you just take hand luggage and check in on-line then you can get away with not paying the charges.
I fly with them, their as good as other airlines and worst than some, you pays ya money you get a service in return, good or bad it depends on what you are expecting. After all for the amount of time spent on the flight it's not the end of the world if it's not quite in your comfort zone.
More and more airlines are charging for luggage, I think it is the sign of things to come.

Every flight to Alicante from East Midlands with Ryanair were advertised at 1 pence each way in January! The downside is you still need to pay tax on the fares and this makes the total around £60 return, still good value but a 'pull the wool' over your eyes tactic to make them look cheaper than they really are.
