Peronally i'd double the fare of any stupid twerp who gets on a flight with an oversized rucksack or case, holds up everyone else and prevents a punctual take-off. How clever they are!

Ryanair are a walk on/walk off airline. You want to do anything else, like carry loads of luggage, have a drink etc you PAY! End of.

If O'Leary was a proper business man then he would as he does selling seats at cheap prices to lure punters lure them to buy his inflight service at cheap prices ,as you and a lot of posters here say you just don't buy anything on board his aircraft and as I have stated before the cabin crew go thru the aircraft in double quick time selling diddly squat ,he has lost the plot here somewhere as look at Tescos figures this week £3.13billion profit and I doubt if anyone sells as cheap as they do consistently .My theory is if you sell at a reasonable rate you will sell plenty and still make mega bucks .Of course if their inflight crew are on commission they will be happy too.

Tesco's isn't always cheaper, and the difference is that if they were able to lock you in Tesco's for hours on end, you'd end up buying stuff at higher prices out of boredom.

Once at the airport they have got you where they want you. All the restaurants, shops and so on are designed to prey on the mixture of your boredom and exitement of the holiday mood. Finally you are herded up the stairs and locked into a small metal room with wings with sweet naffall to do for hours and hours. Me, I read, sleep or study. Those who can't or won't occupy their minds must get bored to b*ggery, and a bored person relishes the chance eat and drink as it alleviates the monotony and makes them feel good.

At that point they will pay your prices, no matter what they are.

Ryan doesn't give a sh*t for anyone whining about the price of food and drink. Someone once told me that unless 20% of your customers complain, you aren't charging enough, and that was in the free market, not a captive consumer base. You'll complain, but you will still go back and do it all over again the next flight out.

Consider this. If Ryan halved their price, would they sell double the amount? Personally I doubt it. Even if they did, all their costs involved in it would double, so they would need to sell more than double the amount just to stay where they were. Would you do that?

If Ryan keep the basic fare low and then gouge everyone for extras, that's fine by me. I shall simply regard it as a tax on stupidity, and there's a lot of stupidity in the world.

To be blunt, complaining about it doesn't appear to be too bright either.

As long as my average fare to the sun costs me about £60 return (which it has over the last 3 years), and they don't crash too often (unlike, say, BA for example) I'm lurvin' it

When I fly with Monarch(frequently) it seems to take them ages getting through the cabin with in flight service and I am never further back than row 6-8 they are not half as cheap as Ryanair but quite a bit cheaper so obviously either their staff are very slow or they sell quite a lot (they seem to anyway) which is my point lower prices more sales .I am on Ryanair tonite and will take your advice and not be a retard .

Have just got back from dropping Darling Daughter off at Stansted for tonight's Ryanair flight to Sevilla ...
She has only handbaggage, checked in on-line, wore a jacket with capacious pockets into which to stuff a sandwich, book, purse, mobile phones, passport etc ...
refused my offer to buy her a nice pair of combat trousers with side patch pockets to wear on the plane (lost a few kg there I feel) ...
But despite her carry-on being regulation size, and impossible to get down to less than 10.5kg ...
a text just told me she got on the plane without having any of it confiscated and put in the hold at £30 for an unbooked hold bag, nor was it weighed!

So it just goes to show that the advice given on BE about wearing your luggage was extremely useful and DOES work!

Agree about Monarch cabin crew - they do seem to be able to shift quite a bit in the way of food and drinks etc, and their prices for onboard snacks are much more reasonable. But on every flight of theirs that I have ever used, a lot of the travellers seem to be elderly, and 'going on holiday' rather than using the plane as a 'bus service to get from A to B', and might just enjoy sitting back with a relaxing, if slightly overpriced gin and tonic and a chicken sandwich?

I'm not terribly old either ... but I get on board an aircraft with a different mentality if it is just me and darling husband starting a nice relaxing holiday together, to the way of thinking I adopt when I am trying to get from A to B as cheaply as possible...
The second way of thinking occurs either because I am on my own and have 'business' in Spain (I am happy to bring a sandwich from home and buy a bottle of water after Security), or we have all the kids and their partners with us (we usually buy everyone's ticket, as they are students,) for a family holiday at our house out there!

It's always possible to get on unweighed and unchecked, but, the downside is that there is always the chance they will. I got weighed last time, 10 kilos on the nail, (and another 4 or five in my pockets.)

Well, not everyone has the option of NOT taking a hold bag, sadly, but even so, my main objection is, when they 'don't have' menu (price) cards available to view -- happened to me at Christmas -- so if/when you order a drink/snack etc, is seems like they think of your weight, add the cat's bithday then double it and that's what you pay.... where does the scam end???...
PS I recently tried to book a flight.....started off advertised at 1.99GBP, ended up at 62.99BGP... and that was WITHOUT any priority boarding etc...now THAT'S what I object to....
