Ryan is a low cost airline. Hardly surprising they cut services. You can't have both.

As to the measurement, well I'd be surprised if Ryan's were wrong. They always match my home scales to within a very small deviation.

Perhaps you could determine a similar scale of honesty?

Glad to see that, judging on some of the stuff I've seen as 'hand luggage' very little of it would ever fit the basket, and I'm certain that most would be well overweight. You sometimes see people ahving to get someone else to help them load their hand luggage into the overhead locker..

Hell yes. We were sitting on the tarmac for ages while idiots with overweight and oversized bags fought to get them into the overheads. We were so long I was genuinely afraid we were going to miss our slot.

At the end of the day you make your booking, and you are supposed to read their terms and conditions. If you dont like them then book elsewhere No one can moan if they are caught.

What we CAN moan about is one person going out with a hand carried bag which was weighed on the way out and was OK weightwise, and was suddenly overweight on the way back, which happened to a friend. I see a lot of people weighing their bags on other scales now before they go to Ryanair.

Its not service cutting that is the issue, its openly abusing clients.

I remember the days of GO, there prices where cheaper compared to the alternative, but there customer service was second to none and allowed some flexibility.

I guess Ryanair are running so close to there cost's there is no room to allow managers some discrection.

Easyjet whilst not perfect does seem to have a business mindset, I guess they do not have a pikey at the helm.

Hello, well as far as I'm aware you can have 1 bag only to cross security, when you get to the shopping area you can do what you want... that's what I've done this Xmas, gone with 1 bag, bought another in duty free and fill it up there - no problem - however you must remember you will not be able to take both bags on your way back... this is only solution if you want to get someting from duty free one way...

our experience with Ryanair, is that all duty free purchases must fit in the 1 piece of hand luggage.

That is what it says in there rules, you even have to have a laptop in the bag if you have one.

Well I for one cannot complain about Ryanair - you just need to follow the rules and you get very low cost flights that arrive on time. Not had a problem so far. However, a recent experience of Easyjet - was less than acceptable and it was not a very cheap flight. A return flight got cancelled two days before I left - I ended up having to pay a lot more with another carrier as there was no alternative offered and it has taken more than 3 months to get it sorted - i.e. the cash back from Easyjet - also they did not tell me about my entitlement to compensation under EU rules - and they fought me on every matter to get this money putting up every possible obstacle such as an email from everyone who flew saying they were happy o accept the compensation - I was told last week the money had been put back on my credit card - we will see!!

Easyjet have been getting some very bad press in Spain over the past few days as they left a lot of Spanish travellers stranded in Marrekech over Xmas without offering any alternative flights.

The news articles made out that Easyjet couldn't care less and there was no spokesman from Easyjet to counter the argument. The easiest way for them to drive away a whole country of customers...

Trying to find a telephone number is impossible with easyjet - several layers down and of course they encourage emails rather than phone - calls are 10p a minute.
