Anyone travelled with them over the festive season? Have managed to get flights for early Feb (Friday to Monday) for €20.00 for two (there and back!) including taxes. Obviously am only taking hand luggage and I know my handbag has to go in that but what about buying in the duty free. Does that have to go in as well??

It's only son's 30th and hopefully this will get us out of doghouse from not going home for Christmas and New Year:)

Unless the rules have changed since October, the rule is ONE bag which means that duty free purchases will need to fit inside your cabin bag.

Damn and blast and other rude words!! Ok sorted - hubby goes with one clean pair of pants and one clean shirt and I use that bag as well when we come back!:rofl:

It's definitely one bag, INCLUDING laptop, INCLUDING handbag, INCLUDING duty frees etc. Daughter travelled yesterday with a very fully packed laptop bag!

These have been the rules for quite some time with most airlines, they're just enforcing them now...including the maximum size allowed.

Put small heavy stuff in your pockets.

Mind you, I bet they start looking for that ere long. I have stupendous poacher's pockets built into my jacket that can carry 8 kilos of stuff if you are careful.

It does make me look like I have a shocking deformity, but that will hopefully stop them from looking too carefully........

Last time we travelled with them they were very strict about the one hand baggage only rule and all handbags/duty free bags had to go inside. If they didn't then people were being charged for extra luggage. We are travelling with them again in a couple of weeks so we will definitely be travelling light.

And just how much duty free can you fit into a laptop bag ....even if you make hubby live in the same pair of undies all week :p It's just not on is it :thumbdown:

I know I'm putting myself in for some flack for this but I just don't get these weight limits! Why is it some obese lard arse pays the same as someone of "average" weight. Why doesn't my OH get a discount for being around the 55k mark?

Been arguing that for years. Stick the passenger and the luggage on the scales and charge them accordingly. If nothing else that will slim the *&^%$£" down.

We flew girona to leeds in dec. and there were lots of people with duty free and hand luggage.( you must buy it after being thro. the check in. I personally would not take a chance after seeing some of the Ryanair checks, you could aways go the whole hog and take a case 15 kilo for £15. regards j. d.

Yes but in my case that doubles the price and defeats the whole object of cheap flights!

I don't really understand that as I have seen the rules being strictly enforced, for several months now.

Is it really worth buying anything at the duty free shops these days? My experience of the ones in Spain is that they're far more expensive than Tesco in the UK (and when does anybody ever eat those huge Toblerones, anyway). So unless you want "special" spanish branded goods that you can't get past the security checks, why bother?
