Just a quick question: I know that Prince William is Guillermo in Spanish. What is Harry? Do they call him Harry or Enrique (Henry, his real name)?

My thoughts exactly, it's not for me, but great to see millions enjoying themsleves. They interviewed some woman at a street party on the news, and asked her how her day had gone. "Absolutely fabulous!" And I'm sure she's not alone, great to see it amongst all the doom and gloom. And now it's all over, there's some here will have to vent their spleen elsewhere. ;)

Re: Royal Wedding
I am a bit of a cynic but I thought it very charming when as they were getting into the carriage she said to William "Are you happy". Track record of that family isn't good, Margaret, Anne, Andrew, Charles all divorced:huh:
I think the whole event was a good booster for the UK. Nice to see so many young people in the crowds. Time to cut out some of the periphary like air miles Andy and his ugly daughters, the useless Edward and the arrogant Sophie. |

I think Harry looks like his uncle, Earl Spencer. |

He looked like a square peg in a round hole today, and acted like it was all a big joke. His hair is as rough as a badgers backside, he walks in a strange stooped fashion like a ninety year old man, and his legs, has anyone noticed, he has the most bandy pair of legs I've ever seen in one so young. I swear you could drive two London buses through them side by side. To me he looked a bit like a beat-up old cowboy who had just spent six months in the saddle. He's definitely a one off whichever way you look at him. |
Re: Royal Wedding
I'm not a royalist but watched about an hour of the coverage in total. I thought the bride looked beautiful, quite the most elegant Royal wedding dress I've ever seen - and William looked very handsome once he put his uniform cap on to hide the bald patch!
Beatrice and Eugenie have obviously inherited their mother's dress sense (ie total lack of). |

A comment on Beeb2 made me laugh last night - "these look like a normal couple"
I wish the couple all the best - they'll need it. Once we've had 20 years of Charles as King, they're going to need all the luck they can get. |

Re: Royal Wedding
I felt proud and privileged to watch this incredible event today. Somewhere along the way, I thought of the estimated two billion people watching worldwide. Among those must have been powerful people watching in lands that may wish us harm.
Seeing the British people showing their solidarity today, they might think twice about taking on a people who will and are able to respond to any threat from anywhere. I know it's probably a daft comment on such a joyous day, but I did think of it. |
Re: Royal Wedding
A daft thought but you may be right:) I read that where there was some crowd trouble today the general public were stepping in to help the police...a surefire way to calm down the cowardly yobbos.

I don't know if other non-native English speaking countries do this, namely France, Germany or Italy, or if they use the correct name of the person in question. Like all celebrities, European royal families are called by their national names in France (except for historical German royal names such as Friedrich, which are translated into French). AFAIK, the same applies to Germany. No one there would refer to Prinz Wilhelm or Prinz Heinrich... :) |
