We either sneak on when they are not there or go in the Car Park or walk from the Bus Station area. Why are they still there now it is pay and display? The Police should shift them.
You mean the parking attendants who are not in uniform () ? They are harmless even though they don´t look that way. They´re justing trying to make a buck to feed their habits, drugs or alcohol unfortunately. If you do pay them no more than 50 cents! Or a cigarette.

OK then I will buy a packet of cigs, do they have a preference? thankfully I haven't bought them for myself since I was a teenager now I'm almost a pensioner!
You are sure now they won't kick a dent in the car If I can only offer a ciggy?

Chesterfield is the Andalucian´s most popular brand. Just say "Lo siento, no tengo monedas" Also, if your parking ticket did not entirely run out, give it to them afterwards. They´ll try to sell it to unsuspecting tourists for double the price!!!

They are pretty well controlled by the police, if there´s any trouble they´ll be out of their "jobs".

Jobs!!! what Jobs?
You are so well informed Jur. Have you considered joining them? There is a busker outside my shop and I think he has more in his cap than I have in my till some days. No rent/rates or tax to pay and his friend stands at the side of him smiling selling the Big Issue! Who is the fool? Me I think.

Ok, source of income then. If my life would come a turn were I would have to point out free parkingspaces so that I could get some food on the table, then yes, I would do that. It´s still a more or less honest way to get some money in their pockets, they could also be pickpocketing around town. What I find odd is that before the paid parking system came to town the parking guys would NEVER bother anyone on the terraces begging for money. Now that the money is flowing in the ayuntamientos pockets they are (if they are desperate). Just a simple matter of the rich getting richer, and the poor poorer.

But hey, this is the restaurant thread. Anyone got any good gossip? Electricity problems anywhere?

Hi Olivia,

Maybe I want clear - I was trying to be humourus with Sue.... hence the 2 smileys - a play on words about 'porkies' and 'pork'..... oh well.... having to explain a joke means it didn't work...

The food is great apparently, as several people have said.. for a great price. We will definitely try it (and hook up again with Phillippe) ..... and we hear that there are also great views from inland out to the sea... and also a pool. With weekend activities, like BBQ on Sunday and quiz nights/sports stuff on Saturdays, it looks interesting.

With Jags new place at CE and also new and interesting places to try all along the coasts things are just getting better all the time!! We are positive about it all.

Regards
Jon

PS for those that havent been to Cacela Velha (that I mentioned earlier, when I was confused about which 'Cacela' we were talking about) ...I do recommend you go and have a walk around and then also move on a couple of mins down the coast for a little bit to Fabrica, and the tidal beaches......

Hi Jon,
I saw the smileys,

I agree it is nice to have choices that's why we like living here. we spend a lot of time driving between Spain and Portugal
Have you tried O Caseiro which is near Infante.
Menu Del Dia Mon-Fri 8e
The owner speaks English and we now know him so well he will even cook me something not even on the menu, I like his fish stews.

Is that the restaurant to the left of O Infante looking from the roundabout? We were talking about it last time and said we should try it on the next visit.

No,
you turn right at the roundabout on e125 go along past Ecomarche supermarket
The restaurant is on the right with a yellow awning.
The menu of the day usually includes
grilled fish, chicken, secreto pork, a stew. You get salad, chips, rice, and carrots with beans.
dessert is usually fruit salad, flan or mousse. This is included in the price of 8e
The only thing I would say is no particular menu for children
Menu del dia only weekday lunch times.

my particular favourite is the seafood rice followed by mango mousse when available.

Thanks for the directions Sue. We'll give it a go. Have you also tried it in the evening? And has anyone tried the one next to O Infante?

Well we did go and nice to meet you too. This time we had the courage to take our peer review along on our first visit and it was GREAT everyone agreed that the food was some of the best BBQ food we had had. In particular the ribs were so good we went back for seconds despite being very full of the first round of meat and salad.

The sweet which we shared because we were so full was a delight a locally produced cheesecake. All round 10 out of 10 well worth a vist and we shall certainly go again and the vfm is as good as any of our previous recomendations

Hi John,
nice to meet you too.

Glad you all enjoyed the food.
I agree 7,50 and as much as you can eat.
I really like the burgers because no fat or grissle my son loves chicken and had the whole portion of chips to himself.
Sergio tempted me with the cheesecake I did try to say no BUT!!

The Portuguese seemed to be enjoying themselves too. I think they were making the most of the holiday weekend.

managed to dip my toes in the pool, not as brave as the youngsters
